1/9/23 I had outpatient surgery -- right eye (cataract and MIGS surgery); I was charged and paid $1070 on this day, which included my annual deductible.2/13/23 I had the same identical surgery -- left eye.March 2023 My insurance company (Cigna) processed the February claim and my responsibility was $372.90.March 2023 Cigna finally processed the January claim. The processing was completely different from the January claim. I began questioning this. Long story short, Advanced Surgery Center submitted the January claim erroneously (using the incorrect revenue code). Cigna, therefore, paid it incorrectly, and they overpaid the surgery center $1,444.40. It took Cigna from March to December 4 to recover these funds from Advanced Surgery Center, and ***** had to use a third party to recover the funds.12/28/23 Having finally recovered the overpayment, ***** correctly issued an EOB with my responsibility for the January procedure shown as $372.90 1/2/23 I called the surgery center billing supervisor (****** @ ************) and she said they do have the corrected January EOB from Cigna. My responsibility of $372.90 x 2 - $1070.00 = a refund due to me of $324.20. ****** acknowledged that this was correct but started giving me a story about how many weeks it would take to process my refund. THIS CLAIM IS A YEAR OLD! They have had my money long enough!
