Dear Better Business Bureau, I am writing to file a complaint against Mutual Credit Union regarding a debt that was paid off but is still showing as Charge OFF on my credit report. On 04/25/2022, I paid off my Charge Off debt with Mutual Credit Union in full. I received a confirmation receipt from the bank confirming the payment and stating that my account was now closed and would report to the credit bureau as paid. However, I recently checked my credit report and noticed that the debt is still showing as CHARGE-OFF. On 08/08/2022 I contacted Mutual Credit Union via mail to rectify this issue, but have not received a satisfactory response as of 4/26/2023. Their customer service representatives have been unhelpful and seem to be unaware of how to resolve the issue. I have also sent multiple emails to the bank, but have not received any response. This incorrect information on my credit report is negatively impacting my credit score and making it difficult for me to obtain credit. I believe that Mutual Credit Union has violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act and is engaging in unfair business practices. I request that Mutual Credit Union take immediate action to correct my credit report and remove the inaccurate information. I also request that they provide me with written confirmation of the correction. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, ******** ******

Mrs. ******* was the sole beneficiary of the deceased account.  Mrs. ******* was not a joint owner on said account.  The proceeds disbursed were net of the outstanding debt and disbursed in three (3) checks to ******* *******, ******** *******, and ******* ******* (mother).  This was explained to the recipients of the checks prior to disbursement.
