On January 20th, I bought a car from ******* Auto Motor and paid $5000 as a down payment. However, only three weeks later on February 16th, 2024, my car broke down in the middle of the road, and I had to have it towed back to the shop. Later, I was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced, and the cost would be $6000.I went to the office to speak to ***** and find a solution, but he insinuated that I may have driven the car too hard, which caused the problem. When I tried to explain that it was not my fault, he refused to listen and offered to split the cost with me. However, I had already paid the down payment and had no money left. ***** showed no empathy for my situation, and I felt invisible. He then dismissed me, saying that someone would contact me.The mechanic later called me and informed me that they would install a new transmission, but I had to pay $3000. I reluctantly agreed, but I don't think it's fair to pay anything for a transmission replacement for a car that I owned for less than a month, and I had not even made my first car payment.***** never apologized for the inconvenience, and I found him to be unprofessional and uncaring. I don't understand how ******* Auto Motor has stayed in business with such poor customer service and accountability. The next day, they even texted me to remind me that my first car payment would be late if I didn't pay. I will never do business with them again, and I will caution everyone I know to avoid them.Business response

************** purchased a 2015 **** Escape which she also financed here on lot with us. The vehicle was sold as-is as are all of our vehicles, this fact was displayed in the vehicle and disclosed to her at the point of sale. This being ******** Law unless the vehicle has a factory warranty, or an extended warranty is purchased or included in the sale price from the selling dealer. Around the date she mentioned in her complaint we received a call from ************** stating that she was having an issue. We told her to have the vehicle towed here and that we would take a look and see what we thought the fix was. Upon diagnosing the issue we came to the conclusion that the fix would be replacing the transmission and estimated the work would cost around $6000. Given the situation we agreed we would split the cost of replacing the transmission with her despite it being sold as is. We also agreed to include the $3000 she owed in installments with her car payments and gave her a vehicle to drive while the fix was happening to further help her. While it is never the intention to sell a vehicle that will have an issue, they are used vehicles and any vehicle new or used will need maintenance over the life of ownership. We feel that in the this situation we have gone above and beyond any legal or moral responsibility we have in this situation, and have done more than enough to try and resolve the issue as fairly as possible for all parties involved.
