We purchased a vehicle from this place back in March. They wouldn't let us take it to a mechanic and told us if we did the 30 day warranty would be voided. Within two weeks time the muffler had broken in two. We live two hours away and could not get vehicle there to be "repaired". We have since taken it to have other issues looked into and #1 Auto had sprayed foam and painted it black up under ther vehicle. They then placed a metal cover over it so it wasn't noticeable. Upon further inspection the cab mounts are totally rusted, making the vehicle unsafe. The mechanic says it's not fixable. I can understand buying a vehicle as is, but doing things to make the vehicle unsafe is ridiculous. Others have posted similar reviews for them.

      Business response

      10/22/2024

We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction and appreciate the opportunity to respond. We have thoroughly reviewed our records and do not have any documentation of a vehicle purchase made by a **** ****** or ****** ****** from our dealership. However, we do show a purchase made on 03/20/2024 (7 months ago) by ******** ***** ******.

Firstly, the vehicle was sold AS IS, and no warranty was provided or implied at the time of sale. This was clearly communicated during the purchase process to Mr. ******** ******. Additionally, while no request was made at the time of sale for the inspection report, had Mr. ****** requested it, we would have gladly provided it to him. The vehicle did receive an inspection on 02/14/2024, prior to the sale, ensuring that it met the state-required safety standards at that time. **** and ****** ****** mentioned discovering issues with the vehicle several months later in a ****** review posted on 10/18/2024, but if Mr. ******** ****** had contacted us when he first noticed any problems, we could have worked with him to address them. Unfortunately, we were not made aware of these concerns until nowseven months after the salemaking it difficult for us to offer assistance retroactively.

Furthermore, while ****** ****** referred to a warranty, its important to reiterate that no warranty was included with this purchase. If a warranty had been offered, as per standard industry practice, choosing to have the vehicle repaired at another shop would indeed void any such coverage. We cannot honor warranties when work is performed by third parties. Please note that making unfounded claims can have serious consequences, including defamation. We kindly ask you to ensure accuracy before making any further statements and to remove your reviews from the BBB and ****** sites. We take our reviews very seriously and will take appropriate actions against false review claims. Thank you for your understanding.

Attached is a copy of the original buyers guide signed by ******** ****** of the day of purchase and inspection report.

      Sincerely,
      Management

      Customer response

      10/23/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
I totally understand buying a vehicle "as is" but like I previously stated this vehicle is unsafe to drive. There is no way this vehicle truly passed an inspection.  It would have failed an emissions test and all the rust up inside would have failed it.  The amount of rust that we found around the frame, that they knowingly covered up with spray foam and painted, and then covered it with sheet metal. Numerous reviews on their ****** site also state the exact same thing. Only two of the four cab mounts are not completely rusted. If the truck were to get into an accident, it would lead to serious injury or death. We do not believe that the inspection they gave is valid, because we were never offered it at the time of sale. Just to clarify the vehicle is in my husband's name, ******** ******, but we purchased it for our son. They also told us that we could bring it back within thirty days, but if we took it to any other shop it would null and void this deal, they told us this only after the sale. This raised a lot of red flags. This is about the safety of the vehicle and not the fact that it was sold as is.
