I went to MMC-Raleigh from 2012-2015 for the Vet tech program. When I started the program we were not told it was not AVMA accredited yet- and that this would be an applied associates diploma. In 2013/2014 the classes were told that they were officially AVMA approved but not associates approved. I was the second class to graduate from the program (originally first but had to take a break) and by the time We found out that MMC wasn't accredited and just got accredited we were all almost done and had spent a good 25k in loans. In 2015 in my last term we were told that we would be getting our associates in applied science and it would be mailed to us when it was approved. It's 2022- and none of us got an associates from MMC and every person who was in this program has to essentially redo 2 years of college because nothing transfers even though we were all told it was an associate program. I would highly recommend going to CCCC or Penfoster instead. It's been over 5 years and I still owe over 40k in loans for a Diploma, not even an associates that we were told was coming. I don't understand how MMC gets away with costing so much for not even an associates, and how they are able to lie to people and never take responsibility. I am in crippling debt because of this school and was lied to. The program needs to state UP FRONT you will not receive an associates and that nothing can be transferred out.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/27) */ On February 27, 2014, the complainant signed an Enrollment Agreement contract with the Miller-Motte College - Raleigh campus, enrolling in the Veterinary Technician Diploma program. The Enrollment Agreement indicated that the student would begin the Diploma program on April 16, 2014, with an anticipated graduation date of July 1, 2015. The Enrollment Agreement also made clear that the type of award she would receive upon graduation would be a Diploma. The student successfully completed the Veterinary Technician program and was awarded a Diploma on July 1, 2015, as set forth in the terms of her Enrollment Agreement, that she signed. Miller - Motte College - Raleigh's Veterinary Technology program continues to be a Diploma program, and has voluntary terminal accreditation status by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities. Miller-Motte College in Raleigh, NC, is an accredited campus that is designed to provide the student with vocational career training and is not designed to prepare the student for transfer to other institutions. I applied at miller motte college and was placed into classes before my financial aide was processed on my behalf I thought my financial aide was complete but on the college behalf they thought they were doing me a favor. My financial aide ended up not going through and after 2 weeks of being in classes they tell me I have not received funding and they have to withdraw me out of classes then hit me with a $6,000 debt for being in classes. I was not supposed to been placed in classes unless I had funding. I feel as if I was tricked into debt and now this is on my credit it is bad business on their behalf.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/01/27) */ The complainant attended the Miller-Motte College - Cary, NC campus from 8/6/2018 - 11/11/2018. As indicated in the complaint, she has a balance due to the school which accrued as a result of her beginning her program of study without being fully financially packaged. When the student initially completed her Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application, she completed the application using her mother's information. She then attempted to update her FAFSA application to include her father's information instead; however the student's attempt to process the change with FAFSA was unsuccessful, which resulted in her Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) being rejected. The Miller-Motte College - Cary Financial Aid team, along with the school's Centralized Finance Team, reached out to the student on numerous occasions via phone, email, and in-person meetings during the time of her enrollment, between August and November of 2018, in an attempt to advise her on what needed to be updated and assist her in resolving the issue. The student attended Miller-Motte College - Cary for one full term, plus one month into her second term, without completing the corrections needed and communicated. She was therefore billed for the tuition accrued during her time of attendance, resulting in the balance owed. We have confirmed that her billing was correct and in alignment with the Enrollment Agreement signed by the Complainant.
