My husband and I reached out to Austin ******* with A and B remodeling to do a kitchen remodel for us back in September of 2022. ** ** *** *** ** * ******* December 12 he gave us a bid if $****. We paid half up front. We never got anything in writing. He sent me an email I was unable to open. He said he was going to bring a hard copy for us to look at and sign. He never brought one. I asked him after the bid how much it would cost to do stairs. I also ran through the list of what was going to be included in the project. He said he'd come back with another estimate. The new estimate was just over $****. That was the absolute top of our budget. I asked him several times, "this is all we'll owe you when it's all done." He said the only way we'd owe more money is if we opened up a wall and found a huge mess. He didn't make us pay more at this time and he started job. I asked if the stove hood was included in the price. He went back to his notes and found we did talk about the hood on the first visit. He said he'd throw this in for free since he missed it on the quote. He would check in frequently to make sure we were both on the same page. One time we were talking and he mentioned he could move the vent if it was within 6 feet of the old one. He had to move 2 cabinets to make that happen. I asked how much that would cost. He said it wouldn't take anymore time and don't worry about it. Counter tops were installed and Austin calls me to let me know he can't move the vent because we don't have an attic. I was annoyed because the vent is no longer over the stove and the counter is in place and we can't move the stove back. He was angry asking me if I blamed him. I told him we hired him to do the thinking about stuff like that. He continued to complain about what a hassle our job has been. He also asked for full payment so he could work with the back on a home loan. We paid in full because because we felt he would finish the job. He was fed up with our job and said he'd do
