g to treat me today and they had lied about pricing. UGH.
Dr. K told me I had to commit to a 10 session minimum package at $150 a pop if I wanted treatment! That's $1500 and she insisted I pay $700 up front today if I wanted to have acupuncture 😡. I was shocked.
They lied when I asked about pricing and treatment earlier this week, when I made the appointment! The secretary at the desk said I could have treatment after my "new customer" consultation today... and when I asked about pricing she said "$125 avg ... some pay more, some pay less, it depends." THAT IS A LIE. Folks gotta commit to 10 sessions for the $150 each session if you want treatment. The sessions are ONLY 25 minutes by the way!
How is this ethically acceptable?
I asked how, medically speaking, the Dr. insists that 10 sessions are required for all people, all conditions, all symptoms regardless of medical issue, body types, responsiveness to treatment? Why should anyone be asked to commit to paying $1500 before trying an alternative treatment or before seeing any results???
Why not give people a chance to do 2-3 sessions then commit if they like/want/need?? See it working?? They need more transparency about pricing when people ask.
Trend Acupuncture LLC Response
03/11/2022
Due to respecting patient privacy, our office cannot respond in detail.
That said, our clinic specializes in complex neurological issues and chronic cases. We often take on the cases that other providers have said they didn't want or could not help.
The purpose of the no risk consultation is to do a thorough case review, and give the prospective patient / client a realistic expectation and quote of what it will take.
Our provider does not know if they can help, until they meet with the patient to discuss their concern, in the same way that one does not call up a cardiologist or surgeon and expect a detailed consultation and price on the phone without meeting.
Most of the reviewer's criticism had to do with price and perceptions based on cost, so I will attempt to address that. It is true, our services are not the cheapest in town. Our provider charges for their expertise in seeing those difficult to treat conditions. Our policy is not to waste anyone's time or money, thus the no fee case review was provided.
It should be noted that the provider did not charge for her time for the case review or the consultation.
Not only that, when it was clear that cost was a primary consideration for this reviewer, we made sure to give referrals to other acupuncture providers who were cheaper.
Regarding the number of sessions recommended, we are upfront and explain EXACTLY how many sessions are necessary, and the price upfront, so there are no surprises. There is a realistic expectation that it won't go away in one visit.
There are two inaccuracies we would like to correct. Regarding the issue the reviewer had with 10 treatments, typically a chronic case is more sessions (longer the issue, the more severe it is, the longer it will take to improve). The second statement that we wish to correct for misinformation is that the provider does not promise a cure or offer guarantees.
We wish the reviewer well.
