I purchased two hummingbird feeders from Duncraft.com and hung them in my back yard gardens. After migration was over I pulled them inside the house and cleaned them with organic dish washing fluid and dried them and put them away until the next hummingbird migration. I put them back out and a few months later found them on the ground. When I brought them inside the top plastic pieces were almost white from sun deterioration, making the plastic ring on the tops snap in half. They had only been out in the sun for approximately 9 months and not all that time was summer. The bottom plastic was not effected by the sun and was still bright red, yet the tops were light pink and plumb and white at the edges. The company was obviously making them to fail so they could double their revenue. I called Duncraft and spoke with Jane to tried to push me to the manufacture stating no one else had complained. She returned my call telling me since it was a warranty item that they would only send me the top plastic pieces. When I asked her if she sold them alone she stated no. So they were going to remove the tops from new feeders and throw the rest of the feeders away. She was not concerned at all with the fact that this was a scam and that the manufacturer was doubling their sales by making feeders that deteriorate in the sun while the bottom plastic remains solid. All they had to do was make the top out of the same plastic as the bottoms and the feeders would last years. Another company with absolutely no character and Jane and Duncraft support it fully and when I asked just to send me the full feeders and not to throw them away she refused. This is the last time i deal with this corrupt company, covering for another corrupt company. There is no character left in business today.Business response

Customer purchased two #1 Best Four Flower Frolic hummingbird feeders from us on May 9th, 2021. He called us August 2nd, 2022 and explained that the top pieces of these hummingbird feeders had deteriorated and were no longer functional however the other 2 components of the feeder were fine. He kindly sent photographs showing the fading, discoloration and broken plastic at the point where the feeder hangs from an S hook. Even though these feeders are well outside of our one-year warranty, we offered to send replacement parts. Customer refused our offer, insisting we send him two new feeders. We are still willing to replace the damaged parts.Business response

We absolutely dispute the purchaser's claim that the manufacturer purposefully makes these feeders to fail. This particular feeder is extremely popular and has been sold online and in stores across the country for many years. We know it to be well-made and durable, particularly at its fairly low price point. Most companies do not offer warranties on it beyond a few months, however Duncraft has a full one-year guarantee on all of our products. We are willing to send replacement parts for these two feeders, even though the warranty expired several months ago. We see no reason to replace the entire feeder, when a part will take care of the issue, particularly when the feeder is out of warranty and we're offering it as a customer courtesy.Customer response

I do not accept the business's response as a resolution to my complaint because.None of that matters. They are selling feeders that literally come apart at 14 months of ownership and only 9 months in the sun.
Duncraft has no idea how to run a business. They are implying that I am lying and keep saying “months out of warranty”. It was only TWO MONTHS out of warranty and the tops came apart.
I don’t need another pathetic reply from this company. I’ve already replaced my feeders from *** Hardware. No need to shop at Duncraft any longer.
That is a great example of how to NOT run a business.
Do they think we are supposed to accept a feeder that disintegrates two months out of warranty and only 9 months in the sun? A five year old could choose materials that withstand the sun better. This was intentional by the manufacturer. And Duncraft is covering for
them
