I took my dog to Great Bay Kennel for boarding from May 11-14, 2022. When I picked h** up the afternoon of the 14th, he was sick vomiting and diarrhea. I called the morning of the 16th because he was not better. The kennel gave me the number of the Dr. J** next door that owns both businesses. The receptionist refused to assist in any way to schedule an appointment with Dr. J** (owner of both the kennel & veterinary) to help my dog. Other customers need to know how they will be treated it their pet becomes ill while at the kennel. It is clear that Dr. J** and staff do not care about the well being of the pets that board at the kennel.Business response

Hello,
I spoke with our receptionists at the An**al Hospital as well as our assistant manager at the Kennel who was caring for Shawnee, *********** chihuahua, at the time of pick up from GBK on May 14th. Our assistant manager states there was not any vomiting or diarrhea seen at t**e of pick up, nor is she aware of any vomiting or diarrhea during his stay. Had he been experiencing vomiting/diarrhea that presented a cause for concern, our Kennel staff would have followed protocol - to notify our managers who determine the best course of action. Typically boarding pets will be seen by an attending Veterinarian at Great Bay Animal Hospital during open hours, and if availability allows, or urgent care/emergency clinic if Great Bay is closed or appointments are full.
The receptionists at the Animal Hospital who spoke with ********* when she called were willing to set her up as a new client/new patient since she is not a current client at that business. However, since new client visits currently book a number of days out and the hospital was completely booked today with no available openings, it would not be appropriate to schedule a pet with an acute illness in that way. We all care a great deal about every pet and always want the correct course of action for treatment.
