Seacoast Chimney was contracted to repair my fireplace by removing an existing flue liner and installing a stainless steel liner. From day 1 this job was a nightmare. Problems with workmanship were numerous. They failed to seal up the house causing tremendous dust. An initial attempt was made to make the liner fit the chimney flue and as a result the liner that was installed has many dings and creases in it which is a creosote trap. I was informed the job was complete and a fire could be started. After I inspected the work it was clear that the liner installation was not complete. The liner was not properly sealed. The bricks in the firebox box area were not reinstalled which most likely would have violated fire code. The parging in the firebox was not accomplished which would have resulted in significant creosote buildup and damage to the exterior bricks. The masonry repairs on the outside of the chimney were done with partial bricks and looked awful and the final product after fixes has a noticable bow in it. The steel liner was not parged prior to sealing the hole on the outside which made it obviously difficult to get a good parge job that high up in the chamber. I questioned this before the hole was closed on the outside but was told it would be done after. As a result it looks exceptionally sloppy with very rough edges. The parging on the inside of the fire chamber box was not completed. There were exposed bricks, insulation and gaps where brick was removed and where the steel damper was removed. If I had that inspected I am unsure it would pass any type of fire code. The top of the chimney was damaged and not repaired. Repointing of the chimney which was contracted was never completed. The Flue damper installed on top of the chimney was never sealed or even bolted down. After lighting a fire my house smoked out several times. A review determined that the liner was too small for the chimney. They agreed to refund my money and even stated the check was in the mail but lied.

Seacoast Chimney installed a new Heat&Glo gas fireplace insert. Total price for installation $3675.00. This included $1581.00 for materials. Brad Y**** told me they did not use all the materials as some came with the gas fireplace. He said I would be getting a refund. I have called and emailed numerous times requesting copy of contract and asking when refund check was mailed out. The last time I called last Thursday, 11/17/2022, I spoke with Brad Y****. He said he would email me the contract and verified my email address. When I called again, he said he was out of the office and would call in a half hour. No call. Logan, from Atlantic Fuel in North Hampton two weeks ago approximately did gas hook up. He could not get the fireplace to work. Told me to call the installer. At that time, I called and spoke with Brad. Twice he told me he would come to the house. No show. He basically said he didn’t know what to do. So I now have a fireplace that does not work and has cost me thousands. I use the fireplace to heat my family room and it’s cold. I am a 76 year old recent widow that does not need this aggravation. I have been lied to many times and I don’t understand why.

We are so sorry to hear about your recent issues with your service. Seacoast Chimney strives to be the best in the industry. Unfortunately, we do not service stoves we do not carry. You went out and purchased your own stove and then asked us to put in. We are not Gas Technicians; hence a Gas installer was hired by you to connect the stove. Seacoast Chimney was just responsible for connecting the liners and running through the chimney system. The additional appointments made trying to help you out have cost much more than the parts. We did not bill you for this extra time.

Seacoast Chimneys response to this claim is inaccurate. I was never told by Bradley Y**** that I had to buy a gas insert from them in order for them to stand by the installation. They did try to supply a gas insert but were not able to. That’s why I bought one. A liner kit came with the gas insert and I also paid Seacoast Chimney for one. I paid double. Brad Y**** told me multiple time they owed me money due to this. Also the chimney cap which they supplied blew off my chimney and is now lying damaged in my back yard. I paid $1750.00 for this damaged cap and I have in writing that it has a lifetime warranty. I emailed Seacoast Chimney about this. I received an email from them saying they would bring me a cashiers .check for the cost of the liner and the chimney cap. They have lied to me many times. I have never received any money and now I do not have a chimney cap. It looks like the cap was not properly installed. I have the email saying they would bring me a check.

We are sorry that we can no longer be of service to you, but rest assured that we tried our very best to help. We understand the frustration that comes with trying to get the job done right and we have been more than happy to try and make sure your chimney is working safely and properly. It is unfortunate that the previous company could not provide assistance for as long as you were expecting, but you must now call a gas company with a gas technician who can take a more in-depth look at the situation. We will be more than happy to replace your cap with the one you already have; however, it's likely that when other companies worked on your chimney in the past, the cap was not properly replaced. We remain available to answer any questions or offer our advice if needed.
