            The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

            Newark, May 20, 2022 -  Acting Attorney Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs announced that they had settled their investigation into Glen Motors’  alleged consumer protection violations.   The company agreed to enter into the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance without admitting any violations of the CFA, Motor Vehicle Advertising Regulations, Sales Practces Regulations and Consumer Leasing Act.

            Glen Motors Inc,  agreed to a $90,000 settlement—which includes $66,088.98 in civil penalties—to resolve allegations that included failing to list the price of motor vehicles on its sales documents, failing to itemize aftermarket products or dealer-installed options, and failing to obtain consumer signatures on all sales documents.

            Glen Motors Inc. also agreed to enter binding arbitration through the Division’s ADR Unit to resolve all pending complaints from affected consumers and any additional consumer complaints received by the Division for a period of two years.

            A portion of the settlement amount will be suspended and automatically vacated provided the company complies with the terms of the agreement over a two-year period.

            On July 18, Ive had front end work done on my truck. Brakes rotors alignment along with several other thing with a hefty $1400 bill. My wife drives the truck and didnt say anything about the drive ability of the truck. When I drove the truck, I noticed that the front end was wobbly when the brakes were anpplied upon driving it leaving me to think that the rotors were faulty. My complaint is that, ***** Toyota charged my wife for service and let the vehicle leave the premises in an unsafe manner which couldve caused an accident. When my wife brought the truck back, they Wanted to charge her for a whole new set of brakes and rotors because a few months had passed. That led me to believe that they were taken advantage of her being that she was a female. Because when I called, they said that they would give me the rotors at their cost. I just wanted the truck back and I wanted her to be safe. This is not the first time Ive had an issue with ***** Toyota and I did contact Toyota personally get Toyota told me that they are independently owned, and they have no control on how they handled their business. Prior to that, they broke my electronic brake sensor and when I was towing my 6000 pound vehicle I noticed that I had no brakes which again couldve caused a serious accident. I dont feel I should have to pay for the set of rotors and I would like that taken off my credit card. as for the electronic brake sensor, I contacted ***** Toyota and I contacted Toyota with no results. If I could recover the loss of that, that would be a great help. And finally, for years, Ive got to ***** Toyota just for the log and Ive had a bump of the bumper policy which they never honored. So I feel I was paying for a lot of service which I didnt even have to pay.

            This is a warning to customers that have purchased a new vehicle which includes ToyotaCare. The program has been modified over the past several years and no longer includes 5 free oil changes as it used to. The worst part is that this Dealership did not inform me of the change to the program and let me use my 3 free oil changes within the first year of having my new vehicle even though this should not be allowed under the ToyotaCare program. When I went to bring in my car for its 4th oil change, I was told I would have to pay for the oil change and it was only at this point that I found out that the 2nd and 3rd oil changes I requested under the program should have been denied since they were performed too close together. The dealership made it seem like they did me a favor by allowing me to take my oil changes early when in fact it was a complete disservice since the 2nd and 3rd oil changes I received were not necessary and resulted in me having to pay for future oil changes. This is a complete scam on Toyota's part and they should be ashamed for allowing this to happen. When I called the Toyota **************** 800 number and explained the situation they said there was nothing that could be done to remedy this situation. I believe there are many other customers that are being taken advantage of under this supposed benefit program to the consumer. BUYER BEWARE... and be sure to ask how many oil changes are covered under the program before scheduling service with your local toyota dealership. Shame on you Toyota for not doing right by your loyal customers.
