We started to plan my daughters birthday party in June of this year. We decided to have her party at Lake Garrison in Monroeville **. I went onto there website, and decided to rent the "Lakeside Pavillion" for $225 as stated on the website. **************************************************** I made the reservation in June, so I definitely was able to get the selected location. I made to payments over the phone to cover the cost of the pavilion. On August 8th I reached out to the lake via phone call to make sure everything was good to go, and to ask about the protocol for my guests arriving at the lake. The young lady on the phone told me, "Have your guests tell the front gate that they are here for ****'s 2nd Birthday, and they will be directed." Sounded pretty easy, and I told all of my guests this information. I arrived at the lake, and was told my guests need to pay an $18 admission From the moment I started talking to him I saw he was very dismissive, and really didn't care about the situation. I asked him why I wasn't told this during one of my 5 or 6 conversations with the lake. The vibe I got from him was pretty much, oh well, not my problem. I asked him what I was supposed to do, or is there was anything we could work out. He looked at the reservation page, and told me, "Well you won't get refunded, because this would be considered a last minute cancelation since you booked back in June. You can write the board of directors for the lake, and explain the situation and they might refund you then." I asked the gentleman is there was any thing we could work out. Only thing he offered was that if I had over 75 people coming he could do $15 a person instead of the $18, knowing that I only had about 50 coming because I gave them a head count when I called on the 8th. The lake kept count of my guests and we had to pay for 44 admissions into the lake. $800! When it was all said and done I ended up paying the lake $1025 to have my party there.
