On November 30, 2023 at 4:20pm a stolen car ran into my house. My house insurace is State Farm in which I went with a company that they work with for repairs. The company assigned to me was Desert Valley Contracting in which they quoted $30,744.29 in damages. Their representative was a *************************. The work started in March which thats how long the permits took to come in, which was fine. ****** informed me that a ****** who works for this company considered the boss would be working on my house. There has been many different workers that have come in to different jobs which I get, (sub-contractors). What was discouraging is that no one was on the same page, ****** the boss would never meet these people at my house to show exactly what they needed to do, so for example they covered the kitchen window from the outside completely, then had to come back and take everything down to do it again correctly. The stucco that had to be done was thin the first time so ****** sent the guy out again to cover it again which I was fine with that except when I went out to ask the man if he was gonna do the second pillar he explained that he was only paid $500 and it was not to cover up the whole stucco job itself, it was only for one pillar. The front of the house where the kitchen window is under where they closed and stuccoed you can tell where they fixed it, nothing is even where it should blend. You can accually see where its been fixed, matter of fact the holes where they patched up with nails in the beginning before the work started are still there.....they consider themselves done. So for weeks no one had come so I finally reached out to them to see if they were even going to finish, they still had to cement where there was a planter under that window outside. I agreed they could just take it down, no need to build another just cement the ground. When I finally called them compaining about the work that looked a mess and not finished, then they sent a person out to see examine. I have pictures and still to date the work is still not finished and they are asking me to sign off. For $30,744.29 this is a rip off and someone pocketed a HUGE amount, while Im still undone and disqusted. Thier supplies are still in front of the house and I havent heard from anyone... please help.

I have been on a work business trip, I just saw this email. This company has my phone number and yet no one has contacted me Via phone. While their messaging through this web sight someone should have contacted me the correct way. Desert Valley had the nerve to send my house insure company another quote asking for additional monies, nine thousand. Yet I myself have not received a phone call from them at all. State Farm is well aware of the job they didnt do and most certain NO MORE MONEY will be given out!!

At the end of June 2022, I had a leak in the floor of my house and *********************** representing ServPro/Desert Valley Contracting came to evaluate, saying he was the owner (false). I had to pay $3k for a plumber, $1600 insurance copay and $1500 for flooring out of pocket. The only invoice I received was one from DVC so I assumed that would be the total for both companies, especially since his business card had ServPro on one side and DVC on the other. Also, they left nails exposed, wires hanging, stains in my sink and tiles broken. I never got a cost breakdown until everything was completed in September. Then I was able to peruse the bill and found item after item being charged for work that was never performed and that they charged MORE THAN TWICE the amount of hours than they actually worked. We had a meeting to discuss the balance still owing, but they wouldn't budge on the ServPro part. Their "finance" person said I could give her a check and then pay $100/mo. after that. I told her I could give her a check for $2k and she insisted I give her a smaller amount to bring the balance down to $7,800, so I did. A couple of days later, she sent an email saying she was not really authorized to make that arrangement and the owner said it would take too long to pay the balance. So, my question is: Why in the world did they send someone who was NOT authorized? I followed up with a check for $800, bringing the balance to $7k; however, she only credited me $500. I told her that I have the cancelled check that shows $800, not $500. She then accused me of "cancelling" the payment and said that it was a criminal act! I said that I felt sorry for her company if she didn't know the difference between a cancelled check and a stop payment! They turned around and put a lien on my house for $7,300, but admitted the amount was actually $7k, with no apology! I am 75 and on a fixed income and feel I'm being taken advantage of. And I didn't appreciate ***********************' condescending attitude.

      Hello,

      Please see the attached documents.

We have provided the tech worksheets that were used at her job to track who and how long the employees were working.

As for the discrepancy between the amounts owed, please see the attached email from the previous Collections employee. She did in fact make a mistake when referencing a payment of $500.00 rather than $800.00 but sent an email correcting this and providing proof that the amount owed reflecting a payment of $800.00.

Regarding ******************** claim on work that was not completed, I have attached the signed Certificate of Completion/Satisfaction that we request customers sign once the scope of work is completed and they are content with the job done.

      Thank you.

I never, ever was contacted that Desert Valley Contracting had responded to my complaint.  Therefore, how was I supposed to respond to their "Good Faith ************** I guess I will be calling the BBB tomorrow.

As far as I am concerned, Desert Valley/ServPro has done absolutely nothing to try to resolve anything in this matter. I was present the entire time that ServPro did their Pack In/Out and I know EXACTLY how long they worked. How DARE they charge MORE THAN TWICE the amount of hours that they actually worked!  It is a lie, a fraud, elder abuse and should be criminal!  Plus, they cracked tiles in my front hall and in my kitchen! There are paint or drywall spatters on my door and walls in the hallway. When they moved our brand new sofa, something broke in the adjustable headrest, which they said they would fix but never did. They put their paint/drywall materials in my "black" kitchen sink and stained it, possibly beyond repair. There are loose wires hanging from the walls around the moulding in the bedroom and the dining room that they didn't bother to reinforce back in place. I gathered an entire shopping back of nails, pieces of drywall and debris that they never cleaned up. While they were working, they left nails exposed everywhere, which we stepped on on several occasions. One nail was sticking out of the doorway in the bedroom and I caught an expensive blouse on it -- it destroyed my blouse and cut my arm! They were SO unprofessional, condescending and deceitful! I may have signed something stating that everything was satisfactory, but it was shoved in my face and I didn't even get a chance to read it. They had promised that they would resolve all of my issues, but they lied about that too! I guess my only recourse will be to contact an attorney -- I don't know what else to do.

The attachments that Desert Valley Contracting/ServPro provided to "prove" their side of this case are completely UNREADABLE!!!  They are in some kind of format that is useless. This is the same format that *********************** used when he sent me several documents in the very beginning of the project!  At that time, I immediately sent him an email and told him I couldn't read them and asked him to please resend them in another format like Word or something.  Of course, he never accommodated my request or even replied to my email.  I asked a couple of other times, but never received anything that I could read!  One h*** of a way to run a business and I guess now they think I'm just going to forget about all of this!  Well, I'm not stupid - I have a college degree and worked in the legal profession for many years. I may be old and retired, but I still have all my mental faculties and I do not intend to drop this matter!

A ground flood occurred on the property and the home insurance company was notified. The insurance company sent to the property Servpro of Downtown Las Vegas/Desert Valley Contracting. This company did not disclose to the homeowner there would be a $308 dollar cost to provide an estimate of water damage. The insurance company declined coverage and Servpro of Downtown Las Vegas/Desert Valley Contracting is billing the homeowner the $308 dollar cost to provide an estimate of water damage. When they sent this to the homeowner they did not even provide the cost of repairs other than the invoice of $308 and photos. Homeowner believes Servpro of Downtown Las Vegas/Desert Valley Contracting has conducted deceptive business practice on a senior citizen and non-disclosure verbally that there would be a $308 dollar cost to provide an estimate of water damage. No estimate was ever given homeowner other than an invoice of $308 with photos. Homeowner requests BBB of *************** investigate this egregious claim/invoice of $308 dollars, the deceptive business practice and non-disclosure of the $308 cost to provide an estimate to repair water damage. This homeowner believes he has been taken advantage of as a senior citizen.

      Good afternoon,

In response to the complaint, before any work/Inspection is performed, all customers are presented with our authorization to perform services in order to enter the home and perform the inspection or perform any work. You can see on page 1 of the uploaded document that it states the following. "If any amounts owing to Provider for Provider services are not covered by insurance, Customer agrees to pay those amounts to Provider within fifteen (15) days of Customers receipt of invoice."

You will also notice that there is a box with the statement "Customer Reviewed Customer Information Form:" has been marked yes by the customer. This form is presented to the homeowner and explained as all customers sign this form before any work is performed, on every job. Due to the insurance denying the claim, he has been presented with the Inspection fee outlined by National Guidelines with the insurance company.

On June 20th, 2022 we had a small kitchen fire. We were unfortunately "introduced" to Desert Valley Contracting and George P**** who said he was the "project coordinator." Mr. P**** said they were going to come through our home, do a "deep clean," paint and many other cleaning/fire related issues. The cleaners arrived on July 13 to begin cleaning. From the start, there was NO communication between us and Mr. P****. And, when we did communicate we were met with hostility when we pointed out certain problems or areas that were not being handled correctly. When I raised a fuss about the LACK of cleaning and went through the very large bill they expected me to pay, Mr. P**** actually said, "Well, that's my money! That's not your money. You need to pay me. Don't spend that money." Sadly, after that conversation, it went downhill from there. I contacted Mr. P**** on July 14, the second day of the cleaners and told him they were not doing a very good job. When he asked me what my concerns were I told him the baseboards were not clean and the house was not anywhere near ready for paint. Mr. P****, while on the phone with me, said (and this is a direct quote), "Well, Michelle, I'm sorry, I just don't believe you," when I told him the cleaning had not been completed correctly. When we sent Mr. P**** pictures, he quickly came back to our home with the cleaning people again, chewed them out in front of me and my husband and told them to redo it. When they were done, the cleaning was less than subpar but we gave up. We just wanted our home back. When Desert Valley sent in the crew to fix the damage in the kitchen and rehang our cabinets, that was all done incorrectly as well. We are horrified. We don't feel that Desert Valley should be allowed to keep any additional monies given the subpar workmanship and the fact that NOTHING was done correctly! Mr. P**** insulted us and continued to inflict emotional distress on myself and my husband.

Not one "racial slur" or any other type of "racial remark" was ever used. Bottom line is no one spoke English. That's a fact as a result, it makes communication difficult. Fact. Fact, we requested on MULTIPLE occasions for a translator, none was provided. The fact that the GM of this company responded ONLY when I filed this BBB complaint speaks volumes as to the "professionalism" of this company. We only received a "refund" because of the LACK of cleaning that was done and proven through MULTIPLE pictures. Since it's obvious this company refuses to take any responsibility, I'll simply let my pictures which are time stamped and dated throughout this process speak for themselves.
