On November 23rd 2023, I placed an order for two garments from the bespoke historic clothing maker, Old Timey Rags. At the time of my order, his website stated that the turnaround time for garments may be anywhere from 6-10 months, but at the time of ordering, I was told to expect them to be complete in March or April of 2024. For the next several months, I reached out for occasional updates, but did not recieve anything of substance, except that my materials had arrived and the timeline kept jumping further back every time. I was never updated without having to reach out, sometimes multiple times. March became April, April became June, June became Septemper, and now there is no proof my order is being worked on even though over 10 months has lapsed. Nearly 50 days ago, after constant prodding, I was promised photos of the progress of my order after the weekend. The weekend passed and I never received any photos, and as of this date, I have never received any information or update regarding my order. Now that the 10 months has passed, my confidence in Old Timey Rags to complete my order is wholly absent. I have consistently been left in the dark, given false promises that were not kept, and have no proof that my order is or ever will be worked on. On top of that— i have stopped recieving responses from them and have expressed my want for a resolution, and it has been ignored. The resolution I deserve is either the immediate delivery of my garments within the end of the month of October, or a full refund. The business has an obligation to uphold their promises to me as a customer, and this obligation is made fully untrustworthy by their deception and lack of communication.Business response

I ordered a garment to be made by Old Timey Rags and delivered in March 2022. The garment did not arrive until the end of April 2022. When it arrived, it did not fit properly. I was instructed to return the garment to have it fixed and even if it needed to be completely re-made, it would be complete by September. As of this date, November 9, 2022, the garment has not been fixed or re-made and the seller instructs me that he is not willing to refund the payment.Business response

I was tasked with making a Civil War officer frock coat, and was given sizes by the customer. I made a bespoke patterns, using these sizes, according to the ******** pattern system. After making the pattern, I cut and made said coat. When mailed to the customer, it was found to not fit in the front pieces, although the back, length, waist, and sleeves "fit perfectly". Customer sent photos of the ill fit and insisted I "make it right". I recommended they consult with a local tailor as they are on the opposite side of the country and I can not do any fittings in person. Customer stated that they said their tailor could not make any adjustments. I consulted with several historical garment makers and they said the solution would be to take apart the entire coat, redraft the fronts and replace them. Customer sent back coat to me and as I was figuring out how to do this, realized that other pieces of the coat would be compromised, so I offered to make an entirely new coat at no additional cost. From the time i received the coat back into my possession, I tried to acquire the cloth that was used for the original coat, but had been unable to locate a commercial or private source for it. Maintaining contact with the customer, I relayed the difficulty of acquiring the cloth. Hearing from one of the vendors that they had expected to get some in stock but not having a definitive date of delivery, I relayed this to the customer. I sent the coat back to him as a placeholder until cloth is available to make the new coat. Customer asked for refund, which is against my policy, as there are no refunds for custom orders. I recommened that they sell the coat which is in their possession to recoup their losses. The coat is worth - at a minimum- of $750, if not more. I received an email from the B.B.B. before being able to read the last message from the customer, which insisted that I refund them the full amount paid for the coat to be constructed. I maintained contact throughout the transaction, and had tried my best to please him. Once again, it is recommended that he sell the coat on his own, and if he wants another coat, he can pay for a new one to be made.Business response

BBB spoke to Guy at the business and the following was relayed: I am willing to remake the coat as soon as the material becomes available. As soon as the material is available I will make the customer a priority. When I have the material available I will let the customer know to return the first coat at that time to work from.Customer response
