The date of the transaction was July 29 2024. The business extreme auto recovery removed my personal belongings from a vehicle. The company did not return my calls prior to, and I had no information about where my belongings were until July 29 2024. They then proceeded to say I waited too long to pick them up and threw them away. I could not pick them up without a location. I left messages with no return call. Valuable and irreplaceable items were in my vehicle including prescriptions.Business response

The complaint is in regards to the repossession of her vehicle. The BBB does not get involved in the complaints of repossessed vehicles. Xtreme does still respond to any and all complaints. So lets start off be saying the vehicle was repossessed on 06/18/2024. The Finance company automatically sends out a letter to the customer within 24 hrs. This is not optional, it is mandatory that this is done properly. The letter states what is owed, how to contact the proper person or department to redeem the vehicle and or personal property.
Xtreme holds ALL personal property for a minimum of 30 days. ( Xtreme held them for 50 days) After that time all personal information is shredded. The rest of the contents are bagged and thrown away. This is common practice on every repossession we do. Xtreme does 300 to 400 repossessions a month. If we were to hold personals any longer we would need a separate warehouse and extra personnel just to secure them.
Xtremes phones are answered 9-5 est M-F. The last thing we need to do is keep someone's personals. It is very costly and time consuming to dispose of them. Just saying, if there were medication and anything of value I would not wait 50 days to complain. Their finance company knew where the vehicle was at all time. Just a phone call away.
