Dear Better Business Bureau, I am filing a formal complaint against *********** ******* ****** *** (ConServe), a debt collection agency attempting to collect a debt they allege I owe to **** ******* ****** *****. This collection activity is unwarranted and has caused undue harm to my financial standing and peace of mind. The handling of this matter by ConServe has been highly unsatisfactory and rooted in unsubstantiated claims.First, I have never signed an agreement or contract with ConServe, nor have I received verifiable proof of any contract with **** ******* ****** ***** that would justify this debt. ConServe has failed to provide the original contract, loan terms, or any legally binding documentation despite my requests. This is a clear violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), which entitles me to a validation of the debt. ConServe’s letters also contain irrelevant information that casts doubt on the legitimacy of this claim. They’ve offered discount options and payment plans without addressing my requests for debt verification. The entire process has been opaque, frustrating, and dismissive of my core concern — their failure to produce legally binding proof of debt. Furthermore, **** ******* ****** ***** has never notified me of this alleged debt, which I find suspicious. ConServe’s communications contain details like phone numbers and web links, none of which pertain directly to **** *******. This raises questions about the legitimacy of the debt. ConServe has continued to report this debt on my credit report even after my dispute, threatening my financial reputation without verified grounds. Their actions are predatory. I request that the BBB investigate this matter. I am not liable for this debt, and I ask that it be removed from my credit report immediately. ConServe should cease all collection activities unless they can provide legal proof of my obligation. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, ****** *****

On October 18, 2024 ConServe received a complaint from your offices, on behalf of the Consumer identified in ID ********  (the "Consumer").  Therein, the Consumer states he does not have a contract with ConServe and not provided with the original contract as requested.  The Consumer expresses concern regarding the legitimacy of the debt.  The Consumer requests that credit reporting be corrected and removed with all collection activities ceased.  Please accept ConServe's apologies for the Consumer's concerns. Upon review, ConServe's records reflect that the corresponding account was placed by or on behalf of the Creditor with ConServe on August 29, 2024.  Following placement, ConServe's records reflect that an initial validation notice for the account was mailed to the address of record on August 30, 2024, without any indication of return mail.Regarding the request for a copy of the contract with ConServe, please note the Creditor has always remained as the owner of the corresponding account, and the account was never acquired by ConServe.  To the contrary, the account was placed with ConServe for collection purposes only, and thus of course ConServe does not have a direct contractual relationship with the Consumer.  In that regard, while the Consumer indicates violations under the FDCPA, he fails to provide any supporting information to indicate the alleged violations which occurred.  ConServe expressly denies and refutes any such claims. Please note that the corresponding account was closed in ConServe's office and returned to the Creditor on October 18, 2024.  As a result, the account will no longer be collected by ConServe, and it is noted that the account was never credit reported by ConServe.  Based on the return of the account to the Creditor, the Consumer is advised that the Creditor should be contacted for any further account or reporting inquiries.  Should you have any questions regarding the foregoing, please do not hesitate to contact me at ********** extension ***** or by email at **********************.  Thank you.

as advised done the original Creditor via TELEPHONE response , the amount requested is a charge off with that being said a 1099 C was suppose to be given in which they failed to do so . Per ******* ******* this Debt was Charged off /Forgiven. However Conserve bought the debt under pennies of the dollar and is not charging me over $500 for a forgiven debt . This is unfair.

I received a phone call back in the middle of September 2024 from Conserve for a debt that was discharged in my Chapter 7 bankruptcy case. I was told this account wasn't listed on my case. However, this appears to be a mistake which was corrected with my attorney. In the District of Minnesota even omitted debts are discharged. I submitted a dispute and haven't heard back. As of 10/2/2024, Conserve and ***** **** ****** ***** are listed on the creditor matrix for my case. This debt is discharged. I would like an update with details on the status of this account/dispute.

I do not have a contract with conserve and I've never heard of them and the alleged debt they are saying i owe has been taken care of already with the irs. So why are they harassing me by sending me a letter? It's a violation of the privacy act of 1974 for them to have any of my information without my consent.

I was hustled by both by being enrolled in a course that I didn't know nor approved to use my benefits. Easy money for the school. I am owed that back, but the agency didn't do they due diligence.

This company is trying to collect a debt from a **** ******* Account that was opened fraudulently using my personal information which i find to be very unethical and i am pretty sure it is against the law. I do not have any contracts with this business Conserve. **** ******* has received a police report along with FTC identity theft report and all other documentation needed to support my claim that this account was opened fraudulently , but for some reason decided to still sell this fraudulent debt.

On July 19, 2024, ConServe received a complaint from your offices, on behalf of the Consumer identified in ID 22011878 (the “Consumer). Therein, the Consumer states the account was opened fraudulently. The Consumer provides a police report as an attachment. The Consumer requests communications cease regarding the debt. Please accept ConServe’s apologies for the Consumer’s concerns.
Upon review, ConServe’s records reflect that the corresponding account was placed by or on behalf of the Creditor with ConServe on June 27, 2024. Following placement, ConServe’s records reflect that an initial validation notice for the account was mailed to the address of record on July 2, 2024, without any indication of return mail. Please note the Creditor has always remained as the owner of the corresponding account, and the account was never acquired by ConServe. To the contrary, the account was placed with ConServe for collection purposes only, and thus of course ConServe does not have a direct contractual relationship with the Consumer.
Please note that the corresponding account was closed in ConServe’s office and returned to the Creditor on July 22, 2024. As a result of the closure, the account will no longer be collected by ConServe, and it is noted that the account was never credit reported by ConServe. Based on the return of the account to the Creditor, the Consumer is advised that the Creditor should be contacted for any further account inquiries.
