I own ***** *****, a small specialty cake & cookie business in downtown Owego, NY. I have a 1 story building, surrounded on 3 sides by buildings with a flat rubber roof that needed to be replaced. Paid out $23,000 to Jeremy Hall, DBA Halls Renovations to: • Remove the entire roof & replace it with new decking & rubber • Remove unnecessary equipment tear down inside ceiling • Spray for mold & insulate • Tear out existing inside ceiling – put up new ceiling, duct work & lighting. On 11/11/22 Rainfall flooded my store, upon immediate inspection by village & insurance roof • Jeremy had lied to Code Enforcement as to the scope of the project • The original heavily damaged roof was not removed • Rubber was a laid improperly and over exsiting damaged roof which was contracted to be removed • Only some rubber was glued, some dry laid • No laps were sealed &were done the wrong way allowing all water to go underneath & no laps were sealed • Rubber was placed directly on the plywood – no insulation • No edges of rubber were sealed nor attached to adjoining buildings properly • Angled walls were built around entire roof making a POOL for water with no access to any drain • He built a wall & “dog house” in order to cover the HVAC unit which was not to be covered • NO vents or access to the HVAC • Another structure was built behind the “Dog house” assuming to hide what he didn’t know how to address, but that now covers the sewer vent which is now seeping into my commercial kitchen. Damages incurred: o Retain Water & Fire Pros - payment o Entire building - walls, floors etc needs to be gutted o Mold mitigation & clean up o Reconstruct inside – Insurance estimate $20,000+ o Loss of $23,000 paid out to Jeremy o Another $25,000 - $31,000 to have the roof redone next year. o Loss of income having to be shut down approx another $30,000 Since hiring Jeremy, his previous warrants, arrest records and fraud charges have been brought to my attention.
