This electrical contractor was hired to provide electrical services for the reconstruction of a single family residence located in *********, **. Per the agreed contract, the total agreed price for services, including all material, permits and fees, was $26,000. An advance payment of $10,400 was paid by owners on October 28, 2022. One week later, on November 4, 2022, contractor fraudulently demanded an additional $15,000. On November 15, 2022, contractor again demanded payment of $9,750, having only worked three weekend days to that point. On November 21, 2022, contractor further demanded payment of an additional $1,600 and eventually advised that the building site was too far away for the company to perform work other than on weekends. At this point, due to breach of contract and unwillingness to provide the contracted services at the agreed price within the agreed timeframe, owners were forced to seek an alternative provider of electrical services. Five different licensed electrical firms visited the site to inspect the status of the electrical work and estimate their cost to completion. A licensed Dutchess ****** electrical inspector also visited the site and inspected the work. Each of these independent professionals separately reported that the work performed by AKEEA on site was inferior, illegal and incompetent in nearly every respect. The electrical inspector advised that the work was the worst he had ever seen (see inspection report attached). The unanimous recommendation of all five firms (entirely independent from each other) was that essentially all the newly-installed wiring, panels, fixtures and boxes should be removed and redone from scratch. Lines were improperly spliced, wiring was torn, tape was used instead of required connectors, illegal holes were drilled in structural beams, wires were illegally wrapped around beams or left dangling between floor joists, recessed light brackets were substituted for ceiling fan brackets and boxes and outlets were installed without regard to finished sheetrock dimensions. Each of these items and many others were photographed and recorded for the record. Contractor refuses to return any funds fraudulently obtained from owners.Customer response
