The 2000 character limit here is ridiculous. The BBB is doing everyone a disservice by imposing this limitation.I was targeted for a credit purchase which I did not need, want, ask for, or even know about. I had enough money in my bank account to purchase this item several times over and had never made a previous credit purchase from Best Buy. Citibank provided the financing, and at an egregiously high (30%) rate according to the legal filing. The salesman at Best Buy conducting this transaction offered me a credit card as a perquisite perhaps as a reward toward future purchases by a repeat buyer. I left Best But that day thinking that I had just made a purchase for which monthly payments of about $35 would be assessed. I made 17 months of $35 payments. I subsequently learned then that their interest payments had not only obviated all of my monthly payments but contributed to a rise in my account which made the balance close to the original purchase price! Now, the additional interest charges they have tacked on certainly exceed the original purchase price. This seemed (and still seems) absolutely absurd to me. Therefore, I stopped payments on this purchase. The Citibank customer service was terrible. After 17 months, I asked for access to a website where I could see the individual charges and transactions, but that was denied. They offered to send me, by mail, a copy of this evidence, but I never received it. To this day, I have not seen a detailed record of what they did or how they did it, yet they see fit to bring a lawsuit against me. I also offered to pay off the principal over the phone whatever was remaining of the original purchase price after subtracting my payments - but they refused to consider this as well. At this point, I gave up even trying to discuss this matter with Citibank. After this contact, Citibank harassed me for two solid months every day ******* me for the payments by phone - daily texts. There is more...Review from Mat B

The worst bank ever I opened an account then added my direct deposit to the account when my check cleared since I have not received the card I attempted to Zelle a family member to make so due payments they locked me of the account despite me verifying myself, and claimed that they needed 48 hours to investigate. I was baffled by this. I was then charged late fee by several companies because Citi bank unnecessarily blocked my account and locked it. I DO NOT Recommend to anyone!!!!!Review from Aaron C

Avoid these conceited condescending sales ************** slow to respond. They're rude. They'll try to sell you a bunch of nonsense while selling you on a mortgage nonsense (like transferring all your assets over to their brokerage). When you try to ask them what that has to do with your home loan, they tell you that you're not in the industry and so you won't understand and so they don't need to answer.Review from JUSTIN D

After 20 years of being a great customer they shut down my account after a couple returned payments. The auto pay was still trying to charge an old account even though i had added a new account. It was a busy year for me. I lost my thankyou points as well. i will never get another CITI card.Review from william s

I would give zero stars if I could. This bank is a scam they offer customers a promotion for $300 if they deposit $1,500 within 90 days. When I signed up for the account and spoke to the person they said that the money would be in my account as soon as I completed the $1,500 worth of deposits. The second ***** gave me different information later on then the third ***** gave me different information and now I just spoke to a supervisor and they gave me different information than the previous three. They're just scamming me and keep making up b******* because they don't want to give me the $300. None of them know what they're talking about and they're just telling me what I want to hear and then making up s*** along the way to keep receiving my deposits. Don't use this bank they're frauds.Review from Justin L

I have been a loyal customer to ****** ********************** Cards for over 8 years. The situation begins where my $40, 000 credit limit was reduced to $30, 000 without notice, and the $25, 390 without notice with the sinister intent of causing my credit card to max out. I called to see if a lower interest rate could be negotiated, then the customer service stated that since my account is current that there are no available options. With electric, and water bills through the roof, and a flawless pay history, I see no choice but to stop paying! Citi then calls me every business day seeking payment, and keep charging interest on the past due amount. Very shady business practices, I will never recommend Citi to any of my family or friends!!Review from William W

I'm trying to give these people money but it is very difficult to navigate the credit card customer service line. After many attemps I finally reached a human but I could not understand them. They transferred me to someone else I couldn't understand who ultimately just hung up on me.From there I called the 212 number listed on this page and reached a human right off the bat who was rude and ended up giving me a number to a medical alert company not even related to citigroup.I definitely understand why they have an F rating with the BBB.Review from Adrianna H

I have had the same Citi card account for 14 years. In July 2024 there were fraudulent charges on my card. I requested the charges be reviewed. Two months later the charges were still under investigation and they were charging me interest on the fraudulent charges. This was eventually resolved. I was told a new card would be mailed in July 2024. It is November 2024 and I still have not received a card five months later. I have called multiple times and they tell me the post office is returning it even though I have verified the address. They have offered no solutions and suggested I call the post office. This happened multiple times. I am having no trouble with any other mail and have not moved. They then charged me an annual fee which I refused to pay until I received the card. Then came the late fees. When I asked to have the charges removed they said it was in the terms and conditions and they could not. It is also in the terms and conditions to actually provide an account / card to the user which they have not done. I was left with no choice but to close the account. I was offered no alternatives. The hours and frustration I wasted and not one person was able to resolve or offer any solutions.Review from Grace G

Citi Bank is the worst bank! Please do your research. I wish I read the reviews before opening a bank with them. They closed my account without notice. They thought the charges coming in and out of my account was fraudulent even after me verifying the charges. I have to wait ***** days for my funds of $42k to be released. We have the holidays coming up. This is not right and frankly stealing and withholding my funds for my family.
