I used DistroKid for about two years, and initially, I found their service flexible, especially when it came to correcting metadata mistakes. However, over time, I became frustrated with the hidden fees and additional charges, which left a bad taste in my mouth. They marketed themselves as offering affordable distribution with minimal costs, but I soon realized that everything had a price. Eventually, I switched to CD Baby, as they were more transparent and didnt try to upsell ******* forward five years, and a co-writer I work with is releasing an album through DistroKid. DistroKid repeatedly told me that I *must* have an annual membership to access the royalties Im legally entitled to.I reached out to their support team, and they confirmed this requirement. Since then, *** received 10 emails bullying me to purchase an annual membership in order to access my payouts. However, after doing my own research, I discovered that I can bypass their paywall by going directly to *********************************************************. The problem is, this page is not accessible through my account dashboardtheres no way to find it unless you know the **** Its clear that DistroKid is intentionally hiding this information in an effort to upsell users. This kind of behavior has led to a poor reputation among artists.Review from Spencer B

Distro kid took my money ,published and suddenly took down and rejected all my music with no answer why. I demanded a refund they refused to respond. I send a letter of demand they didn't reply to. I sent them a notice of intent to pursue legal action and they refused to reply. Didn't answer tickets. I had to file a complaint with my bank for my refund. Stay away from these scammers. It's shocking ******* promotes these scammersReview from Alexandra A

In simple terms, they stole my money. There is NO way to contact them.A 'customer service' will continue to say you've got a ticket number to talk to customer service which apparently does not exist.I'm out money and there appears to be no help.Review from Drew R

They took my debit card information hostage and locked me out of the portal that would allow me to remove it from their sales system. I canceled my subscription with them, and still get charged $40 a year for NOTHING. I do NOT have a subscription with them. I now have THREE disputed charges with them because this happened THREE YEARS IN A ROW! Trash.Review from chris p

Distrokid really needs to do some soul searching if they want to compete with Symphonics, TuneCore, CD Baby, etc. There is absolutely no excuse to have this poor of customer service. They take absolutely forever to respond to your questions, they are about as impersonable as it gets with not a single way to speak to a human, only bots that give canned responses. Newsflash guys, those are extremely unhelpful! Read the room! Listen to your customers! They're all complaining about the same thing, actually do something about it. Based on my experience I do not believe they are on the side of the artist. Last year I released a single with a sample by a producer. I released it as a single THROUGH Distrokid on all major streaming platforms in September 2022. No problem. This year, I am releasing an album with that same exact song on it, and now they're telling me that the stores are rejecting it because another artist has that exact track. They gave me the information of the artist and I see that he released his single , with the same producer, a month AFTER i did. Why does his song get preferential treatment when my track was released before his, and I have the contract for the instrumental to prove it? I asked this question and they just gave me a bot response telling me that my email wasn't checked, they "know its frustrating, we empathize". So I responded "well then who do I speak to?" They simply forwarded me the previous bot email, captioned with "....." . So disrespectfully dismissive. They are not committed to any type of customer service OR problem solving, and at this rate, the second my album is released I will go to a better distributor that actually responds to their customers with actual humans that can answer actual human questions. Terrible experience. If you're thinking about which distributor to go to, simply read all of these reviews to know where NOT to go. I certainly wish I did better due diligence than to ever give them a cent of my money.Review from Andres R

Very poor customer service!Although I'd read innumerable accounts of DistroKid's very poor customer service prior to signing up, I figured it was the lesser of the "evils" available to me. Now I can say I'm among the legions of its dissatisfied customers. It's just shy of two months that I've been trying to get them to resolve an issue involving ********* omission of my credit (I'm the lyricist and am the only credit that's missing). They told me they reached out to ******* (10 days after first advising them) and that it would take a couple of weeks for ******* to rectify the omission. Several of my follow-up emails to them came back with an automated reply that the matter was "closed." There have been other emails that have gone unanswered, and the ones that have been answered are basically useless, thanking me for my patience. I find myself having to run after them to follow up on this. In this technological age, there's no reason a simple edit such as the one I'm requesting cannot be made. Since I've not found a way to contact ******* myself, I have to rely on DistroKid -- my DISTRIBUTOR -- to "advocate" for me, its customer. They couldn't care less.Review from Samuel C

They continue to attempt to charge my credit card even after I got rid of them. They do not have any customer service, all automated, a big scam company. Typical tactics used in timeshares. I have attempted to contact them, they make it impossible to do so, and the number on file with BBB is a non working number.Review from Kim K

They told me for some unknown reason, unfortunately; stores are no longer accepting releases from me via DistroKid. I contacted numerous ************* said that was the first they've heard of it!Review from Frank D

I've been with DistroKid since 2018, after trying other services like ******, and I believe that as long as ************************* owns this company, they will be on the side of musicians. You get to decide where your music is distributed (***** ************* *******, ****** ******** ******* etc.). For example, I usually exclude ******* because I like to make my own videos for the songs. I've never had any problems with distribution and I am impressed by the extras, improvements and innovations that are offered.
