I had zeak improvement fix my flashing which they did for $750. My husband then fixed the damaged drywall inside only for the leak to persist and cause more damage. Called another roofer who said the job had been half done (see picture with gaping hole in the flashing left). They suggested I call zeak back to fix the hole they had left on one side and finish the job so it would not cost another $750. Called Zeak back and showed the picture and they proceeded to fix but also add mortar to the chimney which I had not asked for since presumably the hole getting fixed at the level of the flashing was going to be enough to fix the problem. Zeak charged me another $700 on account of adding mortar to the chimney. When I consulted and texted again to complain about the extra expense for a problem that had not been fixed after the first visit, the worker offered to do other jobs instead like gutters and other things to compensate for the lost funds because they could not refund and were strapped for $ and we relented and texted about gutters. We have yet to hear back from them and it has been months. Our drywall was damaged so this cost more than $1500 for fixing a flashing that wasn’t properly fixed the first time as per another roofer. Not certain it is fixed but it definitely looks awful having used white products that leaked all over the stone chimney.

BBB spoke to Joshua at the business and the following was relayed: We originally were contracted to repair the flashing around the chimney for $1,400, which we did perfectly. The leaking is believed to be from the mortar joints in the stone chimney. We agreed to repair the mortar joints for $800, letting the customer know that we are not masons but she did not want to spend the money for a mason. We have returned 3 or 4 times to try and make the customer happy, even cleaning out her gutters for free. The caulking in the picture was not from us, that was the work of someone else. We sealed behind the flashing so that it would not be exposed.

      Customer response

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.the picture was taken between zeak’s first and second repair. In fact, ******* **** whom I called because there was still a leak zeak’s first job did not repair, told me to go back to zeak so they could fix the flashing they left open. ******* **** wanted me not to have to pay again. I asked zeak to complete the job and instead they did mortar work I hadn’t asked them to do and demanded to be paid $700 for it. The issue is I brought them back to fix the side they left open as per the picture and as per another expert’s testimony and to complete their first job and zeak took it on themselves to do mortar work I didn’t ask for. I wanted to find out if the correction of the issue on the picture would not be enough to fix the leak. In addition because the job had not been completed the first time, this caused damages inside the home after zeak s first repair. Josh when contacted said he didn’t have the money to pay us back and offered to do odd jobs instead: gutters etc I said ok. It never heard back. Clearly if Josh offered to do other work, he knew he had charged us fraudulently for work that had not been completed the first time. We just called him to fix the gap left after the first job and he took it on himself to do mortar work I didn’t want done then charged for it.  Regards, ****** ************
