General manager Mike G**** of the Berlin, NJ location is uneducated and unprofessional. He does not know how to manage time or customers. Felt it was okay to take money from someone who moved out and ignored the contact made by the customer to get it corrected. When I went to the store front, he spoke to me in the most inappropriate ways. After contacting their corporate message board from their website, I never received a response. Mike G**** is an embarrassment to have as an employee. If he did his job correctly, these problems for the customer and the back house would have been avoided. He avoided contact. He never took ownership of his mistakes and only has interest in taking money. He not only avoided me when I called about rent that was supposed to be cancelled 15 days before the auto-debit, but also when I called to get in contact to file a claim. I had to call from a different number to be answered. My items have mold growing from water damage coming from their leaks. A month later, I am still waiting on a status of where my claim is. Mike reassured me though, it’s out of his hands and has nothing to do with it. Also that I should not call him about it. In less than a 5 year span, I gave them over $12k in rent and they can’t even apologize for employing someone who can’t handle customer service. If you are wondering about rent increases, yes it is true. My rent went up every single year. When I chose to rent here it was a family owned small place. I should have never stayed when Prime purchased the location, especially if I had known what kind of person was running it.Review from Kristie P

This place moved me out without a warning took money that I did not owe and nobody is ever at the centerville location it took me over a week to find out if my belongings were still in the unit after they locked me out I’m still waiting for a refund I’m moving my things out of this storage place asap I don’t recommend Prime StoragePrime Storage Response

We just moved here to the surfside area. My vehicle sustained a flat at the Restaurant in front of this storage facility. I slow rolled my vehicle out of a prime parking spot for dining guest, to the back of the restaurant. While waiting on AAA to arrive a bearded tow truck guard dog arrived stating that he patrols this lot, and the storage facility has been cracking down on parked cars in this lot. My disabled vehicle was not in their lot. According to the perspicacious tow truck driver I was parked on the wrong side of the asphalt. The asphalt has two different shades of gray and is unlined. At this point the property/boundary lines are not clear. There is a small no parking sign staked in the Prime Storage lawn. The guard dog indicated he was here to impound my vehicle. I moved the vehicle to the "correct shaded side" of asphalt. This experience was unfortunate considering that we are currently looking for a storage facility. However had this event not occurred I would not have found Prime Storage reviews here.Review from Deborah R

I have rented at the Stuart, FL location for 15 years. I pay by the year. This is suppose to be a secure rental facility. One or both gates are often open to anyone. They say that they malfunction due to rain. I rent an air conditioned unit #805. The temp in this unit for the past 5 weeks has been 89+ degrees. I have reported this the office at the location twice. I have called the 800 number on the door twice. The last time I was told that they would report this information to the district manager. I was told two days ago my the office staff that they are taking bids new a/c units. I store art work, golf clubs and seasonal items in my unit so they will not be affected by the heat. I have had to relocate these items to keep them from being destroyed. I feel that since this problem has not been rectified in a reasonable amount of v time that I deserve a partial refund of my rent monies. The other alternative is that your company relocate all items in my unit to a unit that does have the air that I paid for in your contract. This move would be done at your expense and with your manpower. Please advise what and when this will issue will be rectified. Thank you. ****** *Review from Stephanie M

This place sucks their customer service people are idiots. They have been supposed to give me a refund I have not yet gotten they refuse to give me the number to corporate to file a complaint. I would not rent from these people if my life depended on it and I recommend you don't either because you'll get screwed.Review from Yelitza V

I have been renting here for less than a year. They told me over the phone that was my monthly payment was $100 for a small unit. When I got there they told me I had to get insurance, other fees were added and that had to buy their lock. Their lock broke within a day of using they charged me for the removal of the broken lock which was expensive and the lock itself too. Then I had to buy another lock. Monthly payments were $170 now then 5 months later I get an email from them saying that they increased my monthly payment to $200. They also change my code without asking when I told them that I was going to find a different storage unit somewhere else. Now I have to go back there and deal with this. How are these people allow to do this?Review from Alexis K

If I could give this storage unit 0 stars I would. We purchased a 10x30 controlled indoor storage unit as we had a number of not only expensive items, but sentimental things stored in our unit that we wanted to make sure were well taken care of. This is one of the most expensive units available. Upon moving out, we discovered our entire unit was literally covered in mouse droppings; every box, every piece of furniture, all over the floor. A $2,500 power recliner leather sofa was part of their “home” and was completely ruined, along with an oriental rug and many items within our boxes. Our movers had to remove dead mice stuck to tape on our boxes for us. If you’re thinking that buying insurance with your unit will protect you, it will not. Within the fine print I found out that the max claim reimbursement for an extermination issue was $500, when we had over $3,000 in damages. I tried working with prime storage (Lorraine) who was initially helpful and pretended to try and help me, until she stopped returning my phone calls and went completely dark. Wonderful customer service. This facility is disgusting, the people here do not care about your belongings, they will lie over and over that they’ve put extermination processes in place that are clearly not working. We had several conversations with other tenants when moving out who all mentioned they had made complaints multiple times and nothing was changed. I cannot stress enough that if you care even remotely about what you are storing, go somewhere else. Our movers mentioned that this was one of the most disgusting storage units they had ever seen. Very unfortunate that there are companies like this that treat their customers and their belongings so poorly.Prime Storage Response
