I have hired Handymans quality services owner Fred Young to work on my home in Ohio to get it ready to sell. Fred was supposed to remodel the bathrooms, install new showers, toilets, etc. install the new countertops, paint the house, I am happy to attach any supporting documentation you request including the estimate and send pictures of work done improperly. one example is that when Fred installed the showers he did all of the plumbing wrong. he attached the shower head to a paint stick. and did not install the drains properly. he also did not pay for the kitchen countertops I had to pay 3000 out of pocket and Fred never reimbursed me for this cost. there is an entire laundry list of items. he was contracted to replace 12 windows. which were never done. he was supposed to patch the walls in the house which was not done. he was supposed to install the vanity however he never installed the plumbing under the sink so there was water damage done due to his failures. he did not bolt the toilets to the floor. all of this and more was unfinished when he told me that the work was done and requested his check. when my realtor came into the house she noticed many things unfinished and I had to hire a plumber to come in and fix what he had done wrong. when I spoke with him about this he got a very nasty attitude with me and refused to make this right. he said he messed up and that he has learned from this experience however this does not make me whole. I have had to pay several thousand dollars to fix his mistakes. The asking price for the house had to be lowered because of the amount of time it took Fred to say he had completed his work and to fix many of his mistakes.

      To whom it may concern
The worst part about a complaint is one that is made up.
Mr Bakers complaints were never made clear until now. Mr Baker never paid his bill in full. Because and I Quote he just didn't have it. We remodeled Mr Bakers whole home and he never once complained he added more and more work he never paid for. Inside and out the walls were the first thing painted inside the house we carpeted and floored the whole home that was severally damaged from there renters
We believe we did everything possible for Mr Baker to complete the job. Mr Baker never gave the impression that there was a problem he never gave us a chance to fix anything.we did Skype calls he had family stop by and his realtor. Not sure what we could have done better.we were at Mr Bakers home for over a month that's how much needed done in the home and to just now here a complaint is unfortunate.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have e mails proving that work was done improperly. My realtor sent several e mails along with pictures showing work that was incomplete. in the home inspection please see the pictures I have attached earlier. the showers and plumbing were not installed correctly the shower head was actually screwed into a paint stick. I am happy to forward the e mails and pictures proving this. Mr. Young was supposed to replace 12 windows. he did not do so actually he broke one and I had to pay to fix it. he kept admitting that he messed up and despite having ample time to " make things right" he did not do anything. the window sat broken in the bathroom for several weeks before I changed out the locks. I even had another contractor come out just to fix this window and correct some of Mr. Young's mistakes and Fred talked to him saying that he was going to fix everything which upset my other contractor. I have e mails proving this as well. I have voiced my concerns to Fred several times with documented proof and as weeks passed the market changed due to Mr. Young dragging his feet and doing shady work we had to lower the price significantly. We did have several video calls however it is hard to see the work that was done remotely. My wife and I both mentioned on the calls about some of the paint that was not done and could not see through the drywall to see the pour quality remotely. the home inspector brought several things to light and we had to fix because Mr. Young did all of the plumbing incorrectly. I do not appreciate being called a Liar which Mr. Young plainly states in his reply. I am happy to send the e mail's and photographic proof. I even have a statement from the plumber that was hired stating that he had never seen such poor work regarding the plumbing. Mr. Young also never paid for the countertops which I had to pay three thousand dollars out of pocket due to him refusing to pay stating that he had only budgeted two thousand for the countertops. I am happy to provide proof of this as well. Mr. Young is quick to say that I am untruthful however has no proof regarding his claims. I have documented and Photographic proof backing me up. if anyone is making up stories it is Mr. Young.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have worked with his insurance provider which will not cover the pour work he has done. the insurance will only cover items he has damaged that he was not working on. they define Mr. Young's work as I believe pour workmanship not damage to the property, I have sent a request to the insurance company to get their exact terminology and will reply with it. I am asking Mr. Young to do what he promised to do and make things right. I expect to be reimbursed for the plumber that had to be hired to fix all of his mistakes and I expect the 2000 dollar reimbursement from the countertops which he never paid for. I also expect reimbursement for the windows which he never replaced. and I paid for. due to Mr. Young's lack of knowledge on how to do things right he did not follow up with his crew to ensure things were done. he told me that everything inside of the home was completed and wanted his last installment. when My realtor came in there were  several items not completed. Mr. Young then spent several weeks dragging his feet and we had to lower the cost of the house significantly due to these items taking way too long to complete. Mr. Young has asked me to see if I could get him some help. which I did. I had a different contractor come out to the house to do the repairs but Mr. Young turned him away at the door. I am happy to provide the documentation as proof of this misconduct. again I have tried to work with Mr. Young to take care of this without the need for lawyers which it seems as I may need to take things to court. Thank you so much for your time.

      Best,

The business owner informed BBB that the consumer did not pay him for the entire contract.  The agreement he had with the consumer was that the consumer would pay half up-front, quarter half-way through, and the final quarter of the $18,631.75 when the job was done.  Part of the problem is that the consumer kept requesting additional work that was not part of the original contract. The business install a number of ceiling fans and lights.  There was work on a retaining wall.  The business does not do plumbing, so the consumer's uncle installed the dishwasher.

The consumer has never approached the business owner about his concerns directly.  The business owner found out that he was locked out of the house when he was told by a third-party contractor, who the consumer had asked to come and give an estimate for completing the work.
