On May 2, 2022, a house cleaner for Ohio Maid LLC arrived at 11:45am to perform a deep clean in our home. The service was provided, and I have no complaints over the cleaning service. She did not complete some tasks, and the owner offered to have her come back, but we didn't want her back in our home. We live in a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2300 sq feet home, that is well maintained. The woman took over 6.5 hours cleaning, and moved at an absolute snails pace. We were being billed $60/hr. At 8:10pm I was sent a message by the owner that I owed $370. I debated that cost, but after going back and forth for an hour, I actually had to pay $410 to end the threats being made against me. I also posted the following review on their FB Page: "This company came to our house today. I have never used a house cleaning service before, so I apparently didn’t know the right questions to ask. I have learned from our interactions with your company. Get a written estimate, ask for the areas that matter to me the most to be cleaned first, and set a time limit. We are happy with the quality of work, and paid in full the same day of service." I was informed on May 3, 2022 that she was filing a law suit against me for defamation of character, and threatened that my employer, ******** City Schools, would not like to see that I had charges against me. I do not know if she actually filed charges. Our communications are attached below. Her shake down of more money and legal threats is unethical and uncalled for.

Hello. As stated in the complaint, I did give an upfront hourly cost. At that time, nor at any time, did ****** ask the cleaner to stop, or set a max number of hours that she did not want the clean to exceed. As ****** also stated, she was satisfied with the work completed, and how thorough it was. ****** was given the total and refused to pay, even after i had deducted the $20 cost of adding the oven. When she refused payment, and said "see you in court", that is when i told her i would no longer be discounting her rate, and that fees would accrue for every day the payment was late ($20/day, as noted in the complaint, as well as on our facebook page publicly). She then offered to pay a portion of the cost, and began sending partial payments. ****** simply did not anticipate the cost of having a professional cleaning service, and our company has suffered for that. I still waived the late fee for krista.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

      Complaint: 17137322

I am rejecting this response because:

The owner of the company does not take any ownership of her actions: extorting more money from me through threats, and the fact that I did reach out to her while the cleaner was at our home, complaining about the length of time, as stated in the attached messenger document, but she never offered to have the cleaner stop, shows that she knew she was fleecing more money from us. Her threats that evening were incredibly unprofessional and unethical. The following date she threatened me about removing my negative review by sending me a message with my parents' names and address, my employer, and stating "I'm sure they would not be happy about your slander/defamation of character charges, especially working in special education".  This behavior cannot continue, and she needs training on ethical business techniques, and to be held accountable for her actions.

      Regards,

      ****** *******
