I have submitted a 3 page letter to the corporate office due to character limit this is all I can do. We hired Handyman Connections of ****** **** to do two small bathroom remodels We were told this job would take three days to complete. The job started on the morning on 1.15 The job was finally finished 2.18 a month after promised finish date. The Craftsman have been unprofessional. would show up and than 30 minutes later leave to go "save a cat" or "pick up their kids" One named Ian even had the nerve to ask us for gas money because the "company didn't pay him on Friday like they were supposed too" The owner Brien is trying to ask us to pay him prior to the job being finished insisting they will come and finish the job and they just need cash flow coming in from our job (like they can be trusted) after we already gave them a 50% deposit that was not deserved. another concerning part is that supplies we personally bought for the project went missing (two GFI outlets costing $25.00 dollars each, 4 special lightbulbs for the master bathroom costing $7.00 each, and a 100 pack of copper crimp rings costing $25.00 each. There was also 500 dollars worth of material that on the estimate the company was supposed to buy that we ended up having to purchase instead. (we had already voiced this issue with Brien, the owner and he has yet to address it) Now the owner Brien has decided we actually owe him 385 extra dollars for "supplies" we didn't agree upon. sense we wont pay that he voided our 1 year warranty. on the estimate you were supposed to put up the mirror, medicine cabinet, change the outlets and hardware on vanity that you never did and we did ourselves that he did not deduct from the invoice. complete disrespect throughout the entire project. I am completely disgusted by this company and will warn everyone I know to never use these guys. Brien the owner is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. He should not own a franchise let alone be the face of any company.

There is a character limit here, so please see details on my experience on other platforms. To sum it up, poor work and half work was completed, I called during the job to express this, after the workers left early and arrived late. No one would return my call, but I was harassed for the payment. I finally paid them to never contact me again, and this is when I got more and more messages. After the reviews went up, which i told them I would not be quiet about the way I was treated, they started harassing me. I was told I would receive a refund and then we would go through more legal stuff, I am waiting to hear from the company's legal team for settlement. I have been contacted by this company more since I have paid them to not contact me than I ever was contacted about the work. The legal team has never reached out. They should not be allowed to advertise that they have an A+ rating with the BBB. They should not have this rating. This experience was horrific and others need to be prevented from dealing with this company. I am asking for the promised refund as well as their BBB rating to be lowered, and the ******* franchise not be allowed to use this claim. ****************

This is an independent franchise business.  Thus, my office is not familiar with any details or communication pertaining to this issue.  We will reach out to the franchise owner for their response and what actions they feel are needed to help bring closure to this issue.  I will also gather some feedback and information from the independent franchise owner and share accordingly.

The franchise Handyman Connection of ****** granted a franchise by your organization is intentionally ripping people off. Here is copy of the review I’ve submitted to several social media sites. Handyman Connection of ****** is not listed on the BBB in ********, so I’m contacting your organization to report one of your franchises. Thanks for your time. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!!! Handyman Connection intentionally ripped me off. They started out at a ridiculous amount per hour for a Handyman Service - then almost doubled the hourly rate when they found out I schedule a concrete truck, so it was critical their Handyman was on-site on a specific date. THEIR SERVICE IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! I paid over 6k and one of their handyman contractors only show up half the time. When he actually showed up - he was an hour late and left two hours early? Handyman Connection displayed unacceptable behavior and the Owner Docia intentionally raised the Handyman rate over 50% when she realized the Handyman was critically needed on-site on a specific date for a concrete pour. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

We are looking into the situation described by the client within this customer complaint record.  Our franchise in ******** has a very positive Net Promoter Score (NPS) and has always worked very hard with their team to deliver a great client experience with every customer.  As well they have an above average repeat customer metric (>50%) for the industry.  So this description is out of character from our experience over many years observing this business owner.  We will review the pricing details described above with the independent franchise owner.  It appears that a price was agreed to by both parties from what the owner and client determined was a fair price for the work needed.  We have asked for feedback from the owner regarding the quality of work delivered and contracted for, along with the handyman behavior since it was described as below expectation.

I called Handy Man to receive a quote on my bathroom remodel. Randy came out to give me two quotes. The 1st one was $8670 to remodel my bathroom (everything). The 2nd quote was $6250 to remodel my bathroom (everything except for installing the shower door and painting the bathroom). I accepted the 2nd quote of $6250. On August 2nd, Handy Man sent Richard S****** to complete the bathroom remodel. Richard says that my bathroom remodel is a lot of work and Handy Man is underpaying him for doing this work. He said that Handy Man is only paying him 10% commission on this job, which is $625. I agreed with him that 10% commission is very low. Richard continues and tells he can do all of the quoted work for me plus installing the shower door and painting the bathroom for an additional $1750. He would have everything done by Sunday, August 7th. I agreed to pay him $1750 for the additional work because (1) I felt bad that he was being underpaid based on his stated commission, and (2) I also felt that if I did not agree, then he may not do a good job on my bathroom. After the agreement, Richards worked on my bathroom. I expected it to be completed by Sunday, August 7th as he had told me but it was not done at this time. The work kept on getting delayed and sometimes Richard would not come as scheduled. By Friday, August 19th, the bathroom was still not complete. I called Handy Man to explain the situation. They said they would call me on Monday, August 22nd to take care of this. Monday comes around and no one from Handy Man calls me, so I tried to call them. They did not pick up or call me back.

      Hi ****,

Sorry we did not finish up yet.  The vanity was chipped and we were waiting for you to call us to reschedule.  You called Friday after hours and we called back Monday.   Then again you called us back after hours today.   Give us a call today at ###-###-#### and we will get you scheduled to finish up today.  Our guys also do not get paid a 10% commissionbut they do only get paid when the job is complete.  We did not charge the final $1,750 since we are not yet.

      Thank you,

      Handyman Connection

I hired Handyman Connection after getting a quote ($4,165.00) for work to fix up my bathroom. I made a down payment of $1,041.00. When I got the final bill, there were charges for work that had not been done (vent installation, change faucet) as well as for materials. I had purchased all materials so there shouldn't have been a charge for materials. I asked for an itemized invoice but never received it. I explained the invoice discrepancies to someone at Handyman; she said ****** would call me back to discuss. I never received a return call. I called again on May 24th and left a message. Once again I never received a return call. On June 8th, I received another invoice which was discounted $200. As I have never gotten the itemized invoice, I don't know if the $200 off is supposed to reflect the vent installation although I can't imagine it would cost so little. I'm looking for a corrected invoice as well as a discount for the work done which was sloppy and unprofessional. In addition, I was not able to get the flooring I wanted as the Manager (****** insisted I have to get the peel and stick kind as that was what they could install. In fact, it took 3 different workers/teams of workers to finally get the peel and stick flooring put down. I still have grout on my bathtub tile area; paint splatters on light fixtures; paint drips on the walls which Handyman was supposed to fix.

I filed a complaint recently (** ********* about Handyman Connection due to an incorrect invoice.  Yesterday I got a call from Handyman Connection.  They agreed to accept the reduced amount I was willing to pay; the invoice has now been paid in full and therefore my issue has been resolved.

Just wanted to let you know this has been fixed and no further input on your part is needed.

Thank you for helping me get this fixed.

Dec 19, 2019 Received a bid on a project. The owner came to my house once to see the project another time to get some additional Measurements I acceptedthe quote which had a clause for return of deposit if the work was not started. He came back a third time to bring the plumber to look at the job. Provided a different bid. I told him I didn't not want floor trim he rebid the project and increased the price to the same price now adding a vanity. I decided I didn't want the done. Let him know. He said he would return deposit minus 500. due the fact that he had been out 5 times. No where in the contract did it state that his needing to come evaluate the job would be an additional cost (the estimate is supposedly free. I finally got a check for a 1,000.00 sent to another address. I have emailed him for the 500. difference but know response.

Our original estimate for **** ******* was completed 02/12/2019. After several months she contacted us and let us know it would be an insurance claim and asked us to work with the insurance company to get the claim approved. We said we would but only with a signed contract and deposit to ensure the work would move forward. Working with an insurance company takes many hours of work and we have learned from past experience that some clients will ask us to work with the insurance company to get the payout but then they do not move forward with the work so we can either charge them for the estimate for our time or we can take a deposit if they are sure they will move forward with the work. She signed the first contract on 10/18/19 for $12,334.00. She wanted to start only with the first part of the project and a deposit of $1,533 on the first $5,231 contract and scheduled to start the work on November 11th. On November 4th the craftsman and owner of the company visited her home and we spent several hours investigating how her plumbing and electrical was done and putting together a material list with her. The work was cancelled on November 7th. She stated she wanted to make some changes. She asked for a total of 9 revisions to estimate after she had signed and put down a deposit. With replacing the vanity, without replacing the vanity, with shower doors, with a shower curtain, and so on. This went through March 2020 when she said she wanted to cancel the project. Yes our contract has a return of deposit clause but it has to be cancelled within 3 days of signing and before and work was on her project. She cancelled many weeks later and only after many hours were spent helping her select materials and solve various plumbing and electrical problems on her home. We explained this and said we would let her use the money on a future project. She agreed. In October of 2020 she emailed and said she was ready to proceed with another proposal we had given her to complete the drywall on the lower level and would use her deposit on that project. We resent her on the contract she requested for signature on 11/4/2020 which was not signed. Then on Jan 20, 2021 she reach out and said she discovered issues with the siding on her home and would have us fix that first before the drywall to make sure the drywall stayed dry. We went out and estimate that project for her. She also never moved forward with the siding project either and now requested a full refund. I again explained the deposit was there for a reason, so we do not spend hours and hours of work for a client who is working with an insurance claim just to get money and never proceeds with the work. After a lot of discussion I agreed we would refund all but $500 which is what we would have charged her for doing the insurance claim work. She agreed. We sent a check to the only address we had which is where we did all the work. She called and said she did not get it. We cancelled the check and sent her another one. She again said she did not get it. We told her we could not keep re-issuing a check and we were sure we had sent it twice and she could come by our office for a third minus the 2 check cancellation fees. She said she would keep looking for it. Three months later she told us she found the check but she now wanted the full amount refunded. We again refused. We have been to her home over 20 times. We spent over 10 hours of admin time filling out forms for her insurance claim. Our craftsman went to her home and spent half a day picking materials with her and finding out how her plumbing and  electrical was run. We were well within the rights of the contract to not refund any of the deposit and we still would not have recovered all the money we had invested n her project. The $1,000 was an attempt to settle which she agreed to. We cannot do any more.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.

      Regards,

      **** *******

The companhy came out in February as stated.  I had to get 2 other bids for insurance company.  When they moved ahead he stated that expiration for the bid had occurred.  He came back out gave a new bid which was  okay.  He came a second time with a plumbler to get details.  He came a third time to access more information that may have been omitted.   Added in trim which I never wanted and told him to take also bid a cabinet which was not wanted asked him to remove.  The  cost was always the same and I felt we now had come to a parting of ways due to trim or no trim cost the same.

He asked if we could work on a different project at my home which I was open in exchange for the deposit.  The tech came out twice to get information but the cost was exorbitant.  I was told that due to the fact they had to get equiptment they did not normally use in the business was why the cost was high.

I decided I would not use his service and asked for the return of deposit.

Per the contract no fee is to be charged for bid of job.

If a company was to come to my home to bid 1 job and needed 20 visiti to get the accurate information I would be leary.
Derrick has skills for remodelling but we could not come to a meeting of the mid for final contract
