I had a sump pump put into my basement in September 2021. I had no problems with the owner or the crew at that time. I was told I had a 20-year warranty on the work and I believe a 10-year warranty on the pump itself. This week I found water in my basement. It is January 2023. I have been calling the office of Maintenance Plus Services, panicking that my basement would be flooded again. The office number has a full mailbox and a message could not be left. I then called the owner Mike S***** and left him 2 messages on that Monday. No response. Okay, it was Monday and maybe he was busy with other jobs. I then called both numbers on Tuesday and the mailbox was full at the office and Mike never returned my call. On Wednesday I called and asked Mike, the owner, to please let me know if he was unavailable so I might call someone else and he could text me if there were problems. No response. I had my plumber, Kobella, come today to have them look at the problem and they did not want to mess with the foundation. They then called Mike S*****, the owner of MPG company, and he would not pick up either.. All I want is for the warranty to be honored and for the water problem to be resolved. But, now that I have read the other complaint against this company, perhaps I too need to find another company and file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General? I also sent an email to ms*****3016@gmail.com.

On December 10, 2021 we entered into an agreement with Maintenance Plus Group to install footer tile drains, basement waterproofing, and installation of a poured footer and cement foundation for an addition. On day 2 of the excavation, a worker driving the excavator hit the side of my house and broke a 10ftx 5ft section of brick that has still not been repaired by this company. This is a serious negligence and insurance issue and the owner, **** ****** has ignored this issue and has failed to provide any liability insurance information to have this fixed. As far as the other contractual agreement jobs, nothing has been met to completion. We have waterproofing material that does not even touch the foundation, 5in to 15 in from the foundation wall. Some areas do not even have waterproofing material at all. Improper piping of sump pump drain. He did pour the footer, however he did not put gravel for the concrete floor, nor did he pour the concrete. Areas were not backfilled at all and sat all winter with water entering the basement just as if we never had any waterproofing at all. He continued to make promises, to fix the broken brick THAT HIS WORKER DID, but never came through, however he continued to ask for payment. We have paid him $22,755. We still have to finish the cement on our own, and are forced to pay someone else for this.We have to pay for his negligence and poor business ethics with not fixing our broken house. We asked him for a portion of our money back to do the remainder contractual jobs on our own, but he said absolutely not. **** ****** has extremely poor business ethics and I would never refer him to anyone. We have tried on several occasions to resolve the unfinished work and the broken brick.Other contractors say that that see what we were left with say that he has extremely poor business and say that no one should EVER ask for money before the work is complete. This still leaves us with paying more money. He stole money from us and ruined our house.

Yes we did enter contract for water proofing and excavation of foundation, when we started the waterproofing it was found that a small footer was poured on the outside of the foundation roughly 6"deep and roughly 1'wide for brick facia so it was impossible to get to the foundation wall to do a cement/pardge waterproofing which was explained to them in full and what our next steps would be and by the way nobody hit her house causing her brick to fall off a piece of this make shift footer fell off allowing some brick to come loose,a Mira drain board was installed around foundation to create a seal allowing water to flow to the footer tile which was approved by the building department.
Through out this project the extreme weather fought us for example we could not pour concrete when the ground was frozen nor could we repair brick when it was 15 degrees outside, we could not make them understand the process of what happens in the excavation field when the weather is not suitable
to say they have no idea of the process is putting it lightly.
Through out the project our Crews suffered being yelled at and sever crying episodes to where my Crews would cringe each time I sent them there.
I was in constant contact with the carpenter to keep the job moving forward he knew that it was way to cold to pour the floor so we came up with a plan to go ahead and put the building up and pump the concrete in later I even brought out a heater to melt the snow in the crawlspace Evan when the structure was up once again they have no idea what goes into building a house the should of gotten a contractor.
As far as back filling the ground was extremely frozen with 2'of snow on the ground and all of a sudden they showed up at my residence screaming and crying demanding I final grade the soil so I sent the Crews over there just to please them and backfill and when the snow melted they had mud and Demanded me to come back out to remove the mud because they couldn't walk around the new addition
They never listened to anything just Demanded work to be done when the weather wouldn't let us,I even had the building department tell them this so now that the weather broke to where you can tie up all the loose ends they deside to cut ways and just bash my company there should be a website to where you can blackball customers.
As far as payment they paid as each project was completed at no time did we ask for money when something was not completed except for the deposit we have pictures of all the phases completed and the inspection passes.
They never paid for the concrete or the labor that is false as well
To recap on this these people are awful to work for,no idea on the process of building just full of demands and then gets mad when it's impossible to meet such demands due to weather conditions all my work came with a warranty and no short cuts where taken and the only time the basement leaked after it was waterproofed was when the mason pulled the sump pump from the crock and never put it back in and we went out on a Sunday to reinstall which should of been chargeable

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 16959587, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

      BBB response:
Everything that this person stated is completely false. They started this job on December 10, 2021, and it is STILL incomplete. “Some brick” to come loose is totally FALSE. After 2 professional evaluations, and measuring, the damage that was done by one of his workers is 10 ft. x 5 ft. This person broke my house, I don’t care what the “reason” is. They damaged my private property and DID NOT fix it, not even offered to reimburse me to have it fixed. The damage this caused is $5900.00, OUT OF MY POCKET because this owner FAILED TO TAKE CARE OF MY PROPERTY IMMEDIATELY. This set the tone for the entire job. I should have stopped all work until my house was fixed.

The weather was perfectly good, 50’s and 40’s until the 2nd week of January. He told us it would take 1½ weeks for waterproofing, plus a week to pour a footer and foundation for an addition. That is baloney stating that we were demanding and never listened to anything. WE LISTENED TO EVERYTHING HE SAID, ALL OF HIS SUGGESTIONS regarding the waterproofing. He’s a liar. This project went on and on and on, more than 6 weeks, and again the weather during those 5-6 weeks was fine. I had people come by my house that live on our street and ask what they were doing, why the side of the house was broken and why it was taking so long. I have 6 contractors that live on my street, and they all voluntarily came over and stated that this should never have taken so long and that the owner is RUDE for not fixing the brick immediately. Also a lie regarding the building inspector. Inspector came to my home and brought me the ONLY copy of approval, which was the “pre-footer,” NOTHING ELSE. He told me NOTHING ELSE WAS INSPECTED.

I paid him $22,754.75 in total for waterproofing that is NOT EVEN ON THE REAR OF MY HOUSE and my basement is STILL wet in this area and we told him this. Some areas have waterproofing material 12-14 in. from the foundation. We told him this and he told us we were “crazy” and called me every name in the book and called my wife insane. I paid for a pump that I never received. The inspector said the hole they put in the sump pump pit is way too big and now there's soil stuck in the damn pit that I HAD TO CLEAN OUT. He says he "brought a heater to warm the crawl space." I HAD TO SPEND 2 DAYS cleaning it properly and laying 4 INCHES OF GRAVEL, THAT HE REFUSED TO DO. I have had people assess my mess of a house he left us with. This job could’ve been closed well before winter, but his crew would not work like other workers do- 8 HOURS A DAY. So when we finally get sick of it and loose my patience, sick of the lies, sick of the excuses, sick of his broken promises, sick of hearing of all of the “other jobs” he was doing, sick of looking at my broken house, sick of paying in full for jobs that were not complete, we get upset and we are called every name in the book. Find someone else with ETHICS that actually shows up at the paying customers house to monitor the work. This owner absolutely screwed us with breaking the side of my house, shoddy waterproofing, and cost me more money than what he actually did.
