My wife posted on ******** we were looking for countertops Mike c**** responded and when asked for his company name he said **** We looked into **** and found them to be a well established responsible granite provider with good reviews. Mike lied about his relationship with **** 1/23/2024 - we paid a deposit of $2376 via *****. We were comfortable doing this because we thought we were working with an **** representative. 2/29/2024 - Mike missed the 1pm appt to measure. We called and left messages to reach him. We became very concerned at this time. Mike reached out at around around 4pm and said he would be there in 45 minutes. We hurried home, met him and he measured. He said install would be on Monday, March 11th. We asked he confirm the install the following Friday as we needed to adjust our schedules and make sure we were home on the 11th. Mike did not confirm on Friday March 8th as expected. On Saturday March 9th, after several calls and texts, we finally reached him and he said the install was delayed due to issues at the shop. We were very suspicious at this point that he was not being truthful. On Monday March 11th, I called triton stone and discovered the slab of granite for our job was still at their location and that Mike had made no arrangements for it to be delivered to ****. We told triton the job was canceled as Mike had lied about who he worked for and about the delivery date. With the slab still at triton, it was clear the install date was not remotely feasible and that his intention was to steal our money It was very clear Mike never intended to do our countertops. He used **** name to lure us into thinking we were working with a reputable company. He used the triton stone location as a prop for his scam. I do not believe triton or **** were party to Mike's scam. On March 11th at 9:19 am, I notified Mike the job was canceled due to his deception and he needed to return our money. Back in June of 2023 Mike C**** from my Granite designs gave me a quote on a Bathroom Remodel. I gave Mike C**** a check for $6500 for all the Materials, and part of the Labor. He gave me a Start date of July 17th, Months and Months went by, he kept making excuses, to find out later he never had a contractor to do the job at that time. in November of 2023, he said he had a contractor and would start in December. The Contractor Gutted my Bathroom in January of 2024. he installed the Bathtub and some of the floor. then the work stopped. He never paid the Contractor for what he quoted him. He has not given me any more of the materials I paid for. He will not respond to my Messages, and I have a Bathroom that is completely gutted. I have a signed contract for what was quoted, for all the Materials, and part of the Labor. His last message to me said he misquoted the Job and doesn't have the money to pay the contractor. I asked him for a full refund, and have not heard anything since.Initial Complaint

Mike was quick to give a price, take measurements, and take a deposit. He told us the entire process was going to take less than 10 days. After 2 weeks we questioned him. He said he couldn’t find product. Another week went by and he put me on a 3 way call with the supplier. The supplier said the counters had been available for over a week. He then gave me an installation date a week later. He cancelled last minute that day and pushed it back 2 days. I went to his so called shop to verify materials were there and being fabricated. They weren’t. He showed up while I was walking around and said they were being polished at another location and assured me they would be installed the following day. I contacted him the next day and he said they would be on site by 3. He cancelled again a little after 3 saying the granite broke. He said he might have new granite in a few days. It has now been a month and I asked for my deposit back. He said sure. I gave him my ***** and he said he couldn’t figure it out. He said he would meet with me and return my money. He didn’t show, call or reply to messages. I spoke to another business owner who completes the jobs for Mike and he said the materials were never purchased and Mike isn’t a very honest person or business owner. He offered to help me however he could. The bank couldn’t stop payment on my check because of the time frame and I found out Mike cashed it instead of depositing into his account. At this point Mike stole my money. He needs to return it immediately.Business response

customer ordered material. Material was not transferred in from vendor as agreed customer became upset because of timing and requested refund

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below.
The owner promised a refund 9/11. This didn’t happen. He has only sent a message saying he will refund when he comes up with the money. This isn’t acceptable. He cashed my deposit personally and used it for other expenses, obviously. Also, the materials were available because he put me on a conference call with the vendor twice and they said materials were in and waiting on him to pickup. He also said the granite broke on 1 of 3 times he canceled on me. He is lying. I will accept his actions when I receive my refund.
