I am very happy with my policy for me and my kids. The agent was great and explained everything. We looked at different options and decided on the right policy. This is a very professional company. I even get a call every so often to see if anything needs to be updated. I highly recommend them.Review from Karen K

I have called them 8 times to settle a death benefit that was begun in 1938. My sister called twice. the last 3 OR 4 Fridays they said the check is going out " today." Still no check. The staff seems quite pleasant. But no disbursement. I'm tired of being told untruths.Review from Phil B

They were the most difficult insurance company I’ve ever experienced in collecting a death benefit. ******* and **** go out of their way to pay claims, literally delivering them to your door. You have to threaten Western Southern with legal action after months of ignoring you. Stay away from these crooks.Review from Erin H

We contacted Western & Southern Life when our mother died on July 31, 2024. After calling them several times they said checks for our claims were issued on August 28, 2024. We still have not received the checks. Our mother paid her premiums diligently and on time for more than 30 years. It is disappointing that Western & Southern Life cannot sufficiently process claims for such loyal, long-standing customers. This is not acceptable.Review from Latasha B

After having them over 30 years I have found this company to be dishonest. I stand before God to say this company has lied 3 times when I tried to convert my aging children. When they tried it the third time I promised them that I will prove I did everything right and they where not going to get away with not allowing me to convert my children. I had called office several times when it was time to convert my adult child that was still living with me & ** college. I left several calls no one returned my call until I told them I was reported them to the ** Insurance Commission. I have tried to set up my account in past online with them never been able if with reporting situation in past. Just recently moved and called my local office did not have policy number but I have same email that I have gotten express payments before and I can show my license to prove who I am. They have attitudes back with customers and tried to offer me a higher premium when I did convert the last child. But they did not allow me to do anything to my account. It is frustrating dealing with a company I know lied to me. So I do not respect them and I do not recommend them.Review from Briana s

I am filing a well-deserved 1-star review for the customer service of the death benefits claims department. After experiencing a harrowing suicide of my kids father the last thing I need to is feel gas lighted by an insurance company that is supposed to be there for my kids. I have detailed records of filing out all necessary forms and yet each time I have called to follow up they still need forms. They have a record of my call, but no one is competent enough to write down the details of the call and the outcome that resulted. Its unnerving to have one person tell you all documents have been received and are in order and payout will take 7 business days only to call 2 weeks later to find they claim they dont have all the documents. I feel retraumatized each time they give me different info and support my documented record then call again to have none of it supported and they deny having what they need. It feels like a disgusting ploy to hold on their (our) money as long as possible!I fairly give them one star for at least attempting to be sympathetic, but absolutely unhelpful and untrustworthy in keeping accurate account notes, and no fail safe easy way to upload documents to a secure area where all can go to verify submitted documents.Review from Carmelita B

This is far by the worst life insurance company ever. They are scamming and I would not recommend to anyone. My mom recently passed and had two policies. I asked for her original policy where she signed and they typed up some mess that not telling me anything. They only sent me one policy but ignoring the other one as if I dont know she had two policies. Im going to report them and get the news involved. Just horrible. They just keep beating around the bush not giving the correct information.Review from Laurie W

Worst customer service I have ever had-Multiple calls for a distribution 3x this past November and I was told the rmd distribution was being taken care of. Money would be sent in 7 days. No money sent. I was told it was an older policy and it had to be "manually done". My sister and I each were beneficiaries on this annuity and take the same distribution each year or we both ask for the same amount if we take additional money so they can't keep making errors. For 4 years in a row they have put my distribution along with her own distribution on her 1099 and I don't receive a 1099. More phone calls to them to correct it. We decided to surrender this annuity as there would be no penalty and it was for a small amount. Sent paperwork thru priority mail so it could be tracked. They received it May 28. 2024. I called on June 10 to ensure it was in process. I was told paperwork was all in good order and we would receive our money (automatic deposit) within 20 days of when they received the paperwork and he could see both sets of paperwork (one for her and one for myself) had been scanned, I called today and spoke with another customer service rep named Sarah. I had to give her the policy number 6 times during the call. Tells me she can't find it- I ask her to locate it and let me know if the money has been sent. She tells me the money was sent to bank on 6/17/24 and to give it until Monday to show up. I ask for $ amount to ensure it was correct. The $ amount was the full amount of the closing of the annuity- I ask Sarah to verify with me that it was sent to the two different bank accounts as notated on their paperwork. She tells me yes it was- I contact my sister...they sent the entire amount to her bank account. To top this off- Western Southern wants her to send a letter into them giving them permission to pull the money out of her account and send back to them. How long do you think this is going to take.... days.. weeks. I have had nothing but hassles with this.Review from Sandra D

Western Southern Life agent visited us within the past two weeks. This is when we were advised my husband is NOT INSURED. They terminated his Universal Life. So, here we are. My husband is 87 years old. No insurance. We have had insurance policies with Western Southern since we were in our twenties. I cannot express how frustrated and angry I am. I am posting this as a warning to others who may also have Universal Life insurance. Please be aware and review your insurance coverage.Review from Victoria G
