Hired C & J Handyman Services to do my floors, countertops, fence, painting upstairs, install carpeting, also refinishing the hardwood floor. They have scratched, damaged and left paint stains on my floors. There is a lack of communication on his end when it comes to scheduling and showing up unannounced for less than 10 mins. The job is being pushed back and not completing the job when I was told. Their manner is unacceptable and poor workmanship. I've confronted him numerous times and no solution. I'm disabled and this is causing stress and frustration when not necessary.

I'd like to start by saying everything this client has stated is an absolute lie lie. We have done MORE work than we were paid to do.

He and our company started with an original contract. Within the first week, the client started requesting additional work not in the original contract. And this asking for more and more continued.

The client would pay a little here, a little there but never enough to complete a payment (s).

I feel that it needs to be known that while we are on his property WORKING, he starts drinking early in the day and smoking marijuana  often. To the point of being drunk. In the evening evening our company would start receiving MANY texts. At least 15-20. I mean MANY. These texts would be with pictures of repainting, and or other modifications to the work we had just performed. When asked why he's done these things, the client says he's "Helping". We asked him to please stop.

His reply was "His house, his right to do what he wants to his property".

He is correct, his tile and countertops are not done. He wanted his "add-ons" to take top priority. So, that's what we worked on while also trying to finish up original contracted work as well. As far as paint and scratches to flooring, this was done by the client after drinking all day under the pretense of "Trying to help".

The phone call he speaks of saying he was cussed out is also false. He was spoken to sternly but he was the one cursing. And drunk. He did not like being asked to leave the work we did alone as it was causing one set back after another due to him.

He has texted every evening. EVERY EVENING! Making threats and demanding a deadline for a finish time. Finish? How? We have made arrangement after arrangement with this client and he back pedals every time.

We we're on his property working everyday all day. And at times going back in the evening just to move forward. So his stating that we worked 9:00-12noon is also a lie.

At this point he owes our company over $3,000.

We hope the next company he hires catches onto him quicker than we did as it has cost us Thousands of dollars to work with this client.

Furthermore, I don't think that our asking him to pay up and his report to the BBB is a coincidence.

I firmly believe that this is his tactic to get out of paying what he owes.

I have a contract for him to pour concrete in my barn floor and to pour a pad next to the house. He then put a roof over the pad next to the house. I had two windows installed upstairs. The floor in the barn is not level; and the pad next to the house is not finished. The Posts for the roof are not plumb, the joists are not on any center line and the roof was put on with the drip edge on top which makes the roof look messy. He did not finish the walls by the window in the upstairs. So far, I have spent $35.00 to do some of the work, but it is not finished. I haven't taken any pictures, but I can if requested.

The client contacted our company to pour a barn floor first of all. When seeing how large the project was 70 ft by 35 ft he was told by me that he may want to contract a concrete company as it was too big for a handyman company to do.

He said to me, that he didn't want to spend that kind of money. I told him that in order for me to do it it would have to be mixed by hand and poured in sections. I also told him that it would not have the finished look that a concrete company would provide. He said he understood and that he didn't care as long as he had a barn floor. So I proceeded to hand mix sections and poor sections until it was complete. He had no complaint and paid for the floor work.

As far as the upstairs windows and wall, I did that work as well. Upon completion of that he himself removed/tore out the wall area with no explanation and said for me not to worry about it. He paid me for the windows install and wall work.

The roof posts he speaks of were plum when I left the job. He paid for that as well.

I did everything he hired me for.

I even did additional work for him as well with no cost to him. Concrete step/sidewalk.

He was a nice gentleman throughout and I didn't mind doing that for him.

I believe that he has complained to the BBB because he had asked me if I would loan him a drywall lift. I told him that he could borrow it. However, I had loaned the list to a family member and it ended up they needed the lift longer than expected and the client was not able to use my lift. That upset him a great deal. He called me and my office on multiple occasions about the lift and complaining that he wasn't able to get it from me. I'm sorry that that happened but in no way did I do anything wrong with the work I did. He paid for work done and at any time he could have stopped any or all projects done on his property.

I do believe he is still upset about the drywall lift and has reported to the BBB because of that alone.

His work was done as agreed and I will not refund him. He also kept a miter saw belonging to my company that I never  saw again.

First of all the barn is 28x20 feet.   There never was a discussion on the scope of the work in the barn.  He never told me that the barn floor would not be level. I never said that I did not care how it was done.  If he would have told me that he could not do a good job, I would have gotten other quotes.  As for the posts on the roof, I discovered that none of them were set in concrete. Posts are not going to move if they are set correctly.  After all this job is less than one year old.  He kept promising me to finish the upstairs but kept putting me off.  All far as his response to my complaint,  most of his answer is a total lie.  Why would any homeowner agree to shoddy workmanship.  This property is a dream of mine.  I expected a good quality job and all I got was a poor-quality job.  He had kept promising me to come over and repair this work. Some of his promises are on text messages that I saved.  So I trut reject his answer.

This going back and forth is ridiculous at this point.

-The client DID NOT tell us he would be going anywhere.

-The client was told WE ARE A HANDYMAN COMPANY.

-We RENTED EQUIPMENT TO APPEASE HIS ISSUES even though we know that we owe him nothing. Not a return trip to do anything additional.

-Client is denying that HE NEVER COMPLAINED.

-He in all honesty actually helped out a little on some things because he wanted to. Never said a word of dissatisfaction during process.

-Nothing was said about our workmanship until he was told he couldn't borrow our equipment.

-We have went over MULTIPLE PAID INVOICES from his property work to see if at any point we were in the wrong.  WE FOUND NOTHING TO SAY OTHERWISE.

-All in all we believe he is upset due to not getting the drywall lift from us for his personal use.

We explained scope of work and proceeded to do the job. He was on board the whole time.

      He is blatantly lying.

We will not return to his property. And there will be NO REFUNDS.

We will no longer argue back and forth through the BBB. Like I said at the beginning of this reply...it's getting ridiculous.

He knows he's in the wrong and continues this out of spite.

He has and is avoiding any chance of resolution.

The contractor has reached out to me to address my  issues.  I would be interested in a mediator if that would help to clarify and identify what needs to be done.  The contractor is to call me tomorrow to set times to work on my property.
