Let me start by saying this is by far the worst car insurance ever. I got into a car accident in May of this year. I was involved in a hit-and-run. The other driver left the scene. I reported it to Root and took pictures of my vehicle, a 2018 *** X5. I filed a police report. They sent my vehicle to a towing garage. The adjuster came and noted that the damage to the vehicle was very severe, so they declared it a total loss. The adjuster offered me 25K for the vehicle, but I'm still making payments to my bank. When I asked for a rental, I had to pay out of pocket for it. After two days, I returned the rental because it made no sense to keep it. A month later, I started experiencing severe left hip pain from the accident. I decided to hire a lawyer and see what could be done to help me with this matter. The doctor diagnosed me with a tear in my left hip. I began attending therapy for my hip, knee, and ankle due to the pain. They scheduled me to give a sworn statement about my accident, which I did honestly. However, as of today, they've denied my claims, even the 25K they promised to pay to the bank after signing the power of attorney papers. Now I have to continue paying for a car I no longer have because they claimed my testimony was related to fraud. So please, don't waste your time with this company. They're irresponsible and leave you to cover everything instead of acting like other insurance companies. To this day, I regret choosing this insurance company. They should cease operations and stop treating clients poorly. BBB, I hope you're reading this and initiate an investigation into this company to help hardworking men and women get their rightful compensation; it's outrageous how they mistreat people.

Coverage was horrible compared to other insurance I have had . I got in an accident and my husband who was not on my policy was driving because I was not feeling good and they wouldnt cover it considering he never drives the vehicle. Other insurance companies would of covered it to too it off the other vehicles driver had No insurance. Hate this companies waste of my time and money every month . So happy I have Geico now .

After an accident totaled my car, they charged me for an extra 20 days of insurance after the accident because of problems processing the cancelation on their end. Once the problems were finally resolved, they refused to back date the cancelation date and refund because its their policy. One of the most frustrating customer service experiences *** had. I do not recommend Root. They are great until something goes wrong and then they are a nightmare.
