My car was towed on 2.28.22 from a restaurant parking lot. I went to the lot to get my dialysis cover and pillow form the car. I also made payments on the car. Two weeks later, I got a call telling me to pick up the rest of the items from the car, or they would be thrown out. I went to the lot to pick up my items it was raining. I was standing at the gate, and a lady slid a paper through the gate and told me I had to sign it to get my stuff. I signed the paper, THEN she dragged a bag, a box, a suitcase up to the end of the garage, adn we took it from there. Once I got home and began unpacking the items I realized I was missing my PlayStation 4, my PlayStation controller, hdmi cables, an MCM bookbag, and a 2014 MacBook Pro. These estimated value of the times is about $1600.

      Business response

      04/13/2022

Per phone conversation with *******, consumer came to the business on two separate occasions to pick up "important" items, the second time being 1 month after the repossession of his vehicle.  Contrary to consumer complaint, the consumer was allowed to enter the garage to pick up the final items when it was raining.  He checked over the items and signed the necessary paperwork stating that he had all of his items.  Consumer also had a young lady with him that helped him to carry his items.  This is the second time the business has had to answer a complaint for this instance because the first time was from consumer's bank.  That complaint was closed.  Consumer did not call to report that he was missing items until next day, after picking items up.  Business stated that consumer's mother called several times, more upset about the car being repossessed.  The business states they will send all necessary paperwork sometime today.

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

I am rejecting this response because: I was not given time to review items prior to signing. I was forced to sign before receiving items or they would not give them to me. They said this is their policy and CNAC acknowledged that this is their policy. To sign first. Like it's standard practice for them. I was never invited inside to check items. She dragged my bags of things to the doorway and I stepped in and grabbed them along with the lady with me and left immediately as it was raining and I was light headed cause this was right after my dialysis treatment. We loaded the belongings into my mother's car and since she was our ride we rode with her until she dropped us off at home. We went through our bags immediately at home and finished by 8pm and realized what all was missing. They were closed so I had to call back the next morning. My mother has never called them. She doesn't even have their number nor would she be upset about the repossession. She is only upset about the missing items because this company refused to even do the insurance claim. I was instructed to file a police report and call them with the report number and have them file an insurance claim. ARS would not even take the police report number. She belittled and berated us and that is the only time my mom lost her cool. She was on the phone next to me listening and tried to help when I wasn't getting anywhere with them.

      Regards, ****** ********
