On 12/12/22 the contractor showed up to do the job, prior to the job I bough all the Materials and he was hired to finish the paint I started he was only to do the accent wall and where the ceiling meets the wall to finish the straight lines, install vinyl plank floors and install baseboards. I paid this contractor $550 which was the price he said before any work was done. Everything was discussed during the estimate including fixing the squeaking sub floor in a few areas prior to any work being performed. The paint is not straight nor did he fix the spots on the ceiling, the floors have spots where it is high and low due to him not locking the floors in correctly and chipped a piece of flooring. The trim work is awful, he did a 90 to 90 on the trim which is not how you install it. It’s common knowledge to do a scarf joint or a 45 and 45 to make a seamless joint. He smeared caulking all over and left it on the trim and floors, and failed to use proper nails on the trim. He didn’t use an air nailer like many contractors use. If I were to fix the trim I risk breaking the pieces because of the type of nails used. I noticed all of these issues but still paid him to avoid any altercation, When I contacted him about the work I asked him if he would be happy if this was his house and he said no. I paid $550 to him and now it will cost me at least double to have this fixed and done correctly. He did pay me 200 back but frankly that won’t even cover the cost of replacing the trim. The job was rushed and a lot of corners were cut. I’ve asked several contractors their opinion and all of them said the same thing…. Sloppy and careless. Now it’s been over 2 weeks and I can’t use this room because I have to find another contractor to fix all of these mistakes.Business response

I was dealing with an illness at the time of this job, I had a guy doing most of the work as I was in a considerable amount of pain. The guy in question is no longer employed by me, due to a consistent failure to meet standards. I have been unable to work myself since before Thanksgiving, other than this job. The client in question got very nasty with me and publicly condemned and humiliated me. I offered several times to come back and fix the errors, at my expense, and was repeatedly told my services were no longer wanted. In an attempt to make things right I sent a partial refund and heard nothing else from the client. I assumed things were as resolved as I could make them. Due to my circumstances and the small size of my company, the 200 dollar refund was all I could afford. I had, and have, every intention of giving a full refund, despite being denied the chance to correct the mistakes. I'm not in the position to do so yet, so I haven't. As soon as circumstances change, I would be more than happy to refund the remaining amount.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: I asked before he started the job if he was feeling 100% ready and he said yes. An illness is not my problem and I never knew about him using another guy to do most of the work I hired **** not the other person. And you can’t tell me you didn’t notice all the issues… I know when you left my driveway you knew you did a poor job. I’m going to get in contact with an attorney and start a legal claim in small claims court and will handle the issue. I will pursue inconvenience, cost of labor and materials for the poor work.
Sincerely,

He hired my company. Which includes employees. The customer doesn't get to decide who I have working. I understand your frustrations, and made an effort to fix things. We stood in the room for quite some time and you repeatedly said you were happy with it and even said you would be contacting me for more work.. Had you been honest with me I would have corrected anything you saw that needed corrected. I understand my illness isnt your problem, nor is my trust in a now former employee. But as I already stated, I offered several times to come and fix any mistakes at no cost to you. I have tried to make it right. If the 200 wasn't enough you could have said something. As I said, once circumstances change I'd be happy to refund the remaining 350.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: you have 30 days from today. 1/9/2022 to refund the rest of the amount ($350) or i will pursue legal actions in court and post the remaining pictures on your website along with pictures.... illness or not, you know you did a horrible job so stop blaming it on other people and be a man.
Sincerely,
