      Ervin’s handy man quoted my husband 16000$ to build deck around our pool said it was 5-6 day job. They started on July 17th and it’s now August 4th the job is half done.he hasn’t been here in over a week to do any work and now He told my husband he don’t have reliable help to finish job for us to hire another company to finish because he couldn’t finish by himself. We paid 10,600 $ up front and we owe the remaining balance of 5,400$ when job is Completed. We hired a new company to finish his job and would not recommend this company at all. Very poor service. We demand our money back because he only did half the work. We have to pay another company to finish his job.

      Company owner spoke to BBB by phone explaining that a significant amount of materials had been purchased for the project as well as a significant amount of work had been completed including the framework. Unfortunately, the client recommended changes that would result in the completion time being extended and they began to express dissatisfaction. Therefore, he opted not to complete the project so as not to incur any further expenses as there was no formal contract. No remaining balance is due and the company owner reiterated he does have receipts for all materials purchased for the project.

      No show. He has breached the contract! I have a copy of contract if you need it. And also, Ervin broke my lamp. $200. 

      On Oct 21, 2023 I hired a handyman name Ervin's Handyman Service thru the BBB. He told me he needed $500.00 down before he would do the job and to pay fo rmaterial and his help. He also said he would start 10-26-2023. On 10-26-23 he and helper Rob came out and did some work tearing out rotted wood around windows, replaceing wood. Left in a hurry said they were going to lunch and never came back. Now its 11-2-23 not finish. 

      Here are more clear details. On Oct 21, 2023 I paid Ervin $500.00 down to tear out rotted wood around windows that needed and replace with good wood and cap with metal. Also, cap metal around windows windows that were not rotted plus cap w/metal around 1 door (see contract) a total of 5 windows and 1 door. Finish date Nov 2. After job was completed I was to give him another $500.00, bal due. Ervin never finished the job as of Nov 2, 2023. See attached documents

      A BBB representative spoke to the business owner by phone. They indicated the initial payment for the job covered materials and that the majority of the work had been finished. They are willing to finish the job with agreement to pay the remaining balance less $50 to help cover the cost of the lamp in question. The total balance due would be $450 upon completion.

      I received the message from my complaint in regard to Ervin Handyman Services. The buisness was not truthful.

       

      The did not do $500.00 worth of work nor will I pay him $450.00 of work. He damaged my house (bungalow). And furthermore I'm not paying him $450.00 for completion of work. He breached the contract. 

       

      Ervin left my bungalow in a mess! I had to hire another company to do 3 windows and shanks he didn't finish. Ervin needs to finish the other 2 windows and door at rear of enclosure at no cost to me or refund my money back to me and also, I'll accept $50 for my lamp.

      6/15/22--Mr. ***** (***) & employee ***** came to look at 7 odd jobs--break up/remove walkway + repair handrails + remove/replace crumbling porch facing = $750, paint soffit/ceiling front porch = $375, install garage outlet + fix light outside garage + fix outlet in LR = $400 (possibly $200 more) for total of $1525-1725 Would return in morning w/contract, to collect 1/2 up-front, & start work (I have dates, times, and details, but I need to be more brief) 6/16 *** & ***** arrived I gave check (#**** cashed same-day) which he asked be written to him personally NOT to company *** left ***** broke up walkway Wanted to paint over dirt but I stopped him Got attitude I called *** about issue and he said let them work and problems would be fixed at the end 6/17 I stopped workmen (***** + one) from painting wet surface after pressure washing 3 hours Got attitude I called *** about this & again he told me to let them do it wrong 6/18 Mr. ***** called workmen didn't show up but would return 20th 6/20 ***** stopped men from just covering over facing w/o removing loose ***** had attitude ***** told them to leave & have *** call us *** called & said he'd be here to inspect/talk 6/22 6/22 *** came, we showed issues & talked Gave option to stop & return some $ OR finish 3 jobs started (he said he'd need extra $145 b/c cement more extensive). We agreed to let finish & extra $ He said he'd call that night to say when he'd be back. Never called 6/23 I called *** in the evening He said he'd be here on 6/27 6/27 *** called--fam emerg won't be out Said he'd call 6/28 or 29 to set new date/time Never called 6/30 ***** called *** & left message requesting call back 7/1 *** called Said he'd be in town on weekend (7/2 & 3) would call & return $175 as agreed 7/2-3 No call/show 7/4 ***** called *** & left mess req call back 7/4-5 No call/show 7/6 ***** called *** & left mess req call by EOD 7/7 so we can resolve & move on or will have to take action We want $175 back

      The business refunded the money requested in response to complaint ID ********.  Although it is sad that such drastic measures had to be taken, as far as we are concerned, the problem has been resolved satisfactorily.  End of story.
