I took my car here and was told I needed a pulley and water pump. Was told price was $960. Specifically made arrangements with **** the owner that he agreed upon that I would pay a portion after it's fixed and the balance two weeks later to avoid repossession of my car. I have documentation stating this agreement. I took my car home drove to Lowe's and immediately called **** about a strange noise. He said bring back next morning. I drove to My Nephews school that evening and could not accelerate over 20 mph and heard loud metal grinding sound. Called **** and slowly made it to the shop. The next morning I was anxious and deeply concerned about my car. I called them twice before opening only because I thought we had that type of report. I called the mechanic twice after the business opened not disrespectfully but in fear of what happened to my car. I received a text from **** demanding payment in full. I was floored but paid in full because he said I was"haunting" them.. My car is in repossession status and not drivable. I don't ever want to do any business with ****. I just don't think these are proper business practices. I'm a single 51 year old Woman struggling to survive and take care of my paralyzed Mother. Now I have no transportation. This is not okay.

      Business response

      10/07/2022

She brought her car to the shop and asked me to see if I can figure out what’s  wrong with the car I open the hood looked at the motor and immediately notice that her tensioner pulley was damaged and belt shaving were  all over the engine and pointed that out to her . She left the car at the shop so I can fix it .  As me and my mechanic worked on her car we noticed that the reason the pulley went bad was because  her water pump needed to be replaced. So I called her to let her know and she said go ahead and do the wrk  . Parts and labor cost were $960.00

When I told her it was $960.00 she start saying that was too much money but she needs to get it fixed because it was her only car .
Trying to do something  nice I told her that I would consider her to pay in payments to help her out .
I told her I was done with her car started it and drove it around the block it was fine I got back to the shop I didn’t turn the car off , let it run over 45mins no noise or anything it was fine called her told her car was ready to be picked up
She came we sat inside the office and both agreed on when she would pay me the rest of the money owed on her bill . She paid $480.00 then we agreed she would pay the rest later in the month.

Drove off I her car no noise or anything. She calls me the next day saying that her car started making noise. I told her to bring it in I’ll be more then happy to check it out she said that the cars making a grinding , screeching noise I told her to pull over and look under the hood jus to see if she notices anything steam or any radiator leaking antifreeze.  Which she did  while I was on the phone she said everything looks fine , I told her if she can to look under the car and see if she notices anything under the car that’s leaking , dragging or hanging. She did and said there’s nothing . I told her if she can get her car towed to the shop , said she no she doesn’t have any money to get it towed . I told her I didn’t want her to mess the car up worse then wat it was doin . She said it wasn’t making this noise She brought her car to the shop and asked me to see if I can figure out what’s wrong with the car I open the hood looked at the motor and immediately notice that her tensioner pulley was damaged and belt shaving where all over the engine and pointed that out to her . I wasn’t sure what it was at the ***e . She said that she was going  to drive slowly and bring it to the shop. I waited for her ,We close at 6:pm she got there after 7:pm.
When she got there I looked at everything we did and again the water pump, pulley tensioner and the belt were fine and working  fine . I told her to leave it here me and my mechanic will look at it tomorrow, and she agreed.

We open at 9:am she called me on my cell phone at 8:am asking me about her car told her we didn’t get achance to look at it because  we open at 9:am when we do we will call her and let her know.
At 9:am or a little  after she called the shop twice I wasn’t there yet but my mechanic called me frustrated saying Kerry keeps calling and asking
about her car but won’t give me achance to look at it .
She calls me at 9:30 telling me she called the shop again about her car and that my mechanic was rude .
I told her what’s  going on you calling me at 8am askin about the car , then u call the shop at 9- 9:15 more than once asking about your car . I mean your not giving us achance to check out the car to try and figure out what’s wrong with it . I told you we will call you when we figure it out but your not helping when your calling so much .
That’s when she started saying that she gave the wrong ppl money and talking different to me . I should of not went to your shop , hung up on me .

Then she called the shop and spoke to the mechanic telling him how rude and she didn’t want to talk to me or deal with me . I was  and she wanted help to find out whats going on . *** the mechanic told her we’re trying to find out what’s  goin on but you keep calling.

*** called me and told me wat she said which was not right .
I then decided that I changed my mind about helping her cause wasn’t sure if I gave her , her car I wouldn’t get the money she owes me

Me n my mechanic (***) found out that her turbo in her car was goin bad n making that noise.which then *** called her since she didn’t want to speak to me, he told her that her turbo was goin bad n that’s where the noise was coming frm . She kept on saying that her car wasn’t making that noise when she dropped it off but it also didn’t make that noise when she picked it up either. She said it started to make noise late that night or the next day …. *** explain to her that everything we did to ur car is right n ur turbos goin bad it’s common on these car .

I didn’t like the way she was talkin to us n treating us like we ripped her off which WE DIDNT DO AT ALL
I told *** to tell her before she comes to pick up her car I need to be paid in full .

She told *** to find out how much that would be to fix but also saying she doesn’t have any money.

She came paid card *** told her if u pay cash it’s cheaper but she said she doesn’t care she wants to pay the rest of her bill so she can NEVER COME BACK that was her words.

Then she calls me to tell me her brothers want to come and talk to me ( like she was threatening me wit them ) which was fine wit me cause I did NOTHING Wrong

      Customer response

      10/07/2022

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: I am a customer concerned about my only means of transportation.  I never threatened you I asked which shop you were at because my brothers wanted to speak with you. We all wanted clarification. Neither One of my brothers would ruin their lives for a car or this shop owner.  I even expressed that my brother is coming from Wright Patt and I didn't know if he would make it. I ended the call with "Thank you". You obviously have dealt with such trash that you cannot see good people clearly.

They are Men. Not thugs. I'm their unknowledgeable about a car Sister.

I lost the car due to repossession. I am simply rejecting this response due to the comments made by the mechanic regarding catalytic converters being stolen and the comment he made about a bolt being "dropped" in my turbocharger. I don't believe he will admit that he said that. I believe Mike treated me poorly and aggressively. He even brought me home because I didn't have a ride home and picked me up when the car was "finished" . I misinterpreted his personality.  I am appalled that we spoke about people not keeping their word and he did the very thing to me regarding payment arrangements. My car was absolutely damaged somehow during the water pump replacement.

I  don't care to ever think about Mike again. I'm a kind genuine 51 year old Woman taking care of my paralyzed Mother just trying to get by. I was mistreated regardless of what ***e or how many ***es I called. This WOULD NOT HAPPEN
      To a Man.
      Sincerely,

      ***** *****
