Hello, I had hired this company to tear out my existing asphalt driveway, then to replace with a concrete driveway. Unfortunately, the job was contracted out to another concrete company with no oversight from owner, ****** ******* or Capital City Concrete Services. There was no communication of any possible issues or any possible obstacles to do the job before performing the work. However, there are multiple issues (pictures attached) - my main concern is the job performed alongside of the retaining wall, which is my front porch. They did not finish the edge as the rest of the driveway with a form board or expansion joint between the driveway & my wall; instead, they laid the concrete in between & on some of my retaining wall's bricks. I had planned to potentially remodel my front porch next Spring, however now I cannot as the driveway is not "finished" & will look extremely messed up/jagged if I remove the current retaining wall. Demo was done on Monday, July 24th, the concrete was poured on 27th (2 days late). Austen himself come to my home Thursday August 17th, as I had no response when emailing my concerns with photos. There is concrete on my garage, the company washed their truck & left a huge mess all over my sidewalk & the street (my neighbors are upset), Austen has told me multiple times he'd have someone out to clean it up, nothing. Austen claims that the job was done correctly, but what he said makes no sense as to why the edge is unfinished, saying that they bring a line from one end to the other, however, my step is crooked, meaning their "line" isn't even there. They ripped out my other small retaining wall & were able to finish by the small wall near the porch. I plan to get a couple of other companies to come out for more expertise. The only solution is to rip the entire driveway out & have it redone. I would like a refund, not a replacement, as this company lacks communication & is not reliable. I know as a young female I was taken advantage of.

      Good morning,

In regards to Ms. ***** we have been in communication with her during her project and continued contact after completion and receiving full payment for completed work. Communication was had between our former sales David who was the preferred contact for the project due to them being friends. There was a mess that was left behind from the concrete ready mix company and after many calls from our office to remedy and clean we took it upon ourselves to clean the mess from the concrete wash out in the street. Ms.***** has a concrete set of steps that are not square to the drive way along with a retaining wall that is not straight as well. CCC poured the driveway tight against the bottom course of retaining wall and being a block material with air entrainment is within ACI specs and allowed us to pour the width of the garage opening. Our main concern of an install is water around the foundation of a home and her biggest concern was it does not have the combo edge along the wall area. We provided Ms.***** the opportunity to alter that at no additional charge and has demanded it be removed and redone. It is not our responsibility to alter walls or existing steps of a clients home when we are hired for a removal and replacement of driveway. The pictures shown of the upgraded bottom slope drain with steel grates was a heavy duty drain i ****** ******* approved to be used since it was a friend of a associate. The end has a indent of less than a quarter inch that was offered to be filled but does not cause concern to CCC since it is on the positive end of the drain and water does not flow uphill. CCC clearly states in contract we are not responsible for landscaping or grass. Ms.***** had a small flower bed with retaining stones that needed removed to get our form board in, which is very different than removal of a 4’ retaining wall and removing a set of concrete stairs for completion of project. After my last appointment with ms.***** I was informed she would contact us and let us know what she would like to do and that never happened we received notice from the bbb roughly two weeks after last appointment with homeowner. We have a full staffed office and at our main office number Monday through Friday 8-5pm someone is always available to assist. Driveway is structurally sound and meets American Concrete Institution standards. I believe the main concern for the mentioned concerns is for the fact the retaining wall and front stoop where not addressed prior to installing new driveway. We were not asked or had any idea Ms.***** was going to redo the front walkway and retaining wall until after the fact of install. I have offered multiple solutions to homeowner but never received a follow up. I advise when she decides to redo wall ccc can cut the backside straight for her contractor to lay flush against. We carry outstanding reviews and customer service and we understand our customers needs and want to help them achieve their goals with there home improvements. We are a top rated company and continue to do so. Please advise us on how to deal with this situation.
