We had a purchase agreement to purchase a travel trailer. We were working with a sales woman on a down payment. We were told that she would call us the next day. I called the next morning and told her we have the down payment. She said great and she would call me back with the final numbers on total price and payments. She called back in a few hours and said that the camper had been sold. I was shocked since we were working with this person for a few days on trying to get the down payment taken care of. Even though we had a purchase agreement, she told me that if someone wants to come in and pay cash, of course they are going to sell it to them. What?? She told me there was nothing they can do about it, mistakes are made. Very disappointed with this. Not sure what makes the difference in financing and paying in cash, since either way, they would be getting their money. But, once again, she told me there is nothing they can do about it. She said it was all because we didn’t have the down payment right away. Purchase agreement, loan agreement means nothing if someone is paying cash?

Mrs. ********: We are very sorry for the mistake that happened on the unit that you were purchasing. When we talked with your husband, he had mentioned that you did not have the down payment for the unit you were looking at and was approved for. He did call and wanted to see if we could adjust the price for the camper. In the meantime, another sales associate had a customer that wanted to purchase that camper. Since you did not put a deposit down on the camper and your husband said that you did not have the deposit for the unit. I made the decision to allow the camper to be sold. I spoke to your sales associate about the deal and made sure she asked if you wanted to put a deposit down on the camper and she did mention that she requested it a number of times. Based on the information that I had again, I allowed the camper to be sold to another customer that had the money available. I am very sorry for this. It is never our intention to double sell a unit. Unfortunately, it did happen to you. With us a customer paying cash or financing a unit is no different to us. We welcome any form of payment, but when a customer tells us that they do not have the down payment and they do not have a deposit down on the unit. I have to make the tough call on selling the camper. Again, I am very sorry that this happened. I understand that you are very upset with us. I would be myself, but I have to look at the welfare of the dealership and if I have a customer that is willing to pay for the unit and a customer that is telling me I don't have the down payment. I have to sell the unit. If you would have put a deposit down on the camper, it would have been a completely different story. I know that you have a bad taste in your mouth with us and I feel bad that it happened. I would be more than happy to work with you on another unit that fits into your budget to make it right.

I would like to take a second and talk about Jim’s Trailer Sales and my review. After adding my review, Jim’s Trailer Sales admitted that they had made a mistake and that they were willing to work with us and would make things right. They definitely did what they said they would do. Thank you so much Jim’s Trailer Sales. You certainly took a bad situation and turned it around.
