I entered an agreement with Chandler Construction LLC on 4/4/2023 to pave our driveway. The agreement stated that they were to start work on 5/16/2023 with a completion date of 5/18/2023. As per the terms of the agreement, I paid Mr. Chandler a check made payable to Chandler Construction LLC on 4/4/2023 in the amount of $9,414, which represents one-third of the total cost of $28,242. Mr. Chandler has promised but repeatedly failed to perform any work since entering this agreement. I waited for over 7 months until late November/early December 2023 when Mr. Chandler reached out to me that he might be able to start the driveway job. This was the time when the weather dropped below freezing, and under this weather condition, it is not ideal to pour any concrete driveway. We politely requested Mr. Chandler to provide us a refund. This is based on our research on American Concrete Institute website. Mr. Chandler told me that he would send me a certified check within the next 7 business days. We did not receive any check in the mail. My wife called Mr. Chandler on 12/4/2023, he promised my wife that he had already mailed the check via Priority Mail but we never received any check in the mail. I sent him a demand letter dated 3/12/2024 requesting a full refund of $9,414. Mr. Chandler called me on 4/1/2024 stating that he would like to pave our driveway. After he failed to deliver his service in May 2023 and his dishonest answer to our request for refund in December 2023, no reasonable person can place his/her trust in this contractor to perform his service. I politely requested him to issue a full refund. Mr. Chandler told me that he would be in my neighborhood on Friday, 4/5/2024 so he would personally deliver a check to me on Friday, 4/5/2024. We have not heard from him since our last conversation with him on 4/1/2024. He repeatedly demonstrated dishonest verbal commitment but failed to deliver. It is his responsibility to give us a full refund.Initial Complaint

We had a patio poured in April 2022. Paid $10,000. One of the concrete pads is not leveled correctly and flows toward the house. Mr. Chander has attempted to add concrete to the top of the pad to relevel but the work did not correct the problem. Our house foundation is impacted by the pad allowing water to flow toward the house. After his first attempt my husband contacted John letting him know the repair did not fix. John claims that because we stepped on a framing board when he was showing us how the project was going to be completed that we are the cause when the board was on solid ground. In addition if the board actually was the cause the slope of the pad would have been impacted in such a way that water would slope away from the house, not toward it. Johns response to the first repair was a phone call yelling and being irate with my husband for over 5 minutes. When my husband tried to get a word in edgewise John told my husband to F*** off. I have attempted to get John back out but he never shows up. We would like the pad replaced with proper grade and the job done correctly.Business response

To start off with this complaint has no merit. And false accusations .Yes we did pour the patio it was not 10,000 it was 7,700 with the other work it came to 10,000. I did go out there and add a concrete polymer to the slab. That is when i notice the stair and air conditioner pad was out of level. Then remember when he was standing on the stairs when we where pouring the concrete.if you have a form suspended in the air and some one 250 pounds stands on it it will sink .And they even tell you in this complaint that they did this. Then she start to tell us in this complaint how the water is going to run what is her experience in doing construction. As far as me yelling at her husband .when he asked me to come back out there was still a small spot he wanted fix.I told him no we was the one that caused the problem .Then he started yelling and disrespecting someone.I did not tell him to f**k off .She was not on the one on the phone having the conversation .So that is all hear say . She did call me one time to come out I never did.My conclusion on this complaint I will fix it if they pay for it .There was no problem with my workmanship .
Thank you

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, reasons for rejection are included below. The claim that the stair was stepped on during pour is false. The stair was stepped on during review of the framing. Mr. Chandler consulted with us prior to the pour to ensure the HVAC slab was big enough. The frame for the HVAC slab was not big enough and the step was stepped on to help Mr. Chandler get the proper measurement. Therefore the frame needed to be adjusted in question to accommodate the bigger HVAC slab prior to the pour. If the step was stepped on during the pour the grade would have been shifted in such a way that the water would actually drain away from the house, not toward it.
The attached pictures show what the patio looked like as it was drying on the first day, the first rain, and after the first attempted repair.
It is also to be noted that I contacted Mr. Chandler about a month and a half ago asking for a repair and he asked for us to draw on the patio where it needed to be repaired. He told us it would come out and fix it again and insisted the repairs would fade into the same color over time. We drew on the patio in crayon to show where water was still pooling. In the later pictures you can see faint lines that are still there from the crayon. Mr Chandler never showed up.
As shown in the pictures, that portion of the patio the color is all over the place after a few months and water is still pooling against the foundation.

Good day. There are so many false accusations here or I should say confusion . Let start with me taking them out side to look at the air conditioning pad .That was the fist time she stepped on the stairs .I told her not to worry I would take care of it.The next morning I my self leveled it up so i know it was level .When we where pouring the concrete patio the next day there was a tranition from the front of the deck to the patio. That is when she went in side to get her husband for him to look at it .That is when he proceeded to walk on the stairs and stand on them .Which in turn caused the low spot which in turn caused the water puddel .Then they called me about the water puddel.I told them to mark it with a crayon so i would know where it was.I was out there the next day and skimmed the area that is when i notice the stairs and air conditioner pad where not level. That is when i realized when he had walked and stood on the stairs .That is when he called me and the disagreement started .I explained what he had done and did not want to take responsibility .She called me one time after that and asked to come out and fix the little spot in front of the water faucet .I said i would and the more I thought about it I decided not to go out there .
That is the truth and nothing but. No stories or false accusations if it was my fault I would take care of it .We have been in business since 1911 I have a a+ rating with the bbb with no prior complaints .That should show how I take care of my customers They do come first .But when we are not at fault there is noyhing I am going to do about it .I am sorry . But you have to responsibility on the problem you caused .
Thank you

If you had a square sponge and stepped on the bottom right hand corner water would run toward that bottom right corner of the sponge. Water would not run toward the top left corner as it is with our slab. In this complaint water is running toward the foundation nearly 7 ft away on the top left of the slab. John continues to place blame that the root of the issue is stepping on a step on the bottom right portion of the slab.
If water was running toward the step that John is placing blame it would not be a big deal at all as there is dirt under the stairs that water could run to. Instead we have water running toward our foundation in which will cause irreparable damage if not corrected.
The first attempt at a patch job post pour puddles water as seen in the pics, doesn’t slope and looks awful.
