Transactions occurred over 6 weeks. Original contract can be provided but is locked in Adobe with password. Signing was September 18, 2023. Entire project was to be completed in 8 weeks. Paid $14,213 for materials. Only received receipts for $13,206.43. Want reimbursed for $1,006.57 Paid $8,670 for labor which included (Phase 1: demo, all electric repair, all plumbing, all drywall work, replacement of baseboard heaters), (Phase 2: window installation, interior / exterior painting, door installation.) Paid 30% of total labor at contract signature ($5202) and also ($3468) at Phase 1 end, even though Phase 1 items were not completed. Phase 2 items windows and outside paint were begun during Phase 1, covered with 30% initial payment. Workmanship was extremely poor in all areas. Met with contractor in-person weekly on Sunday (over 6 week period) to review issues in person. Spoke to contractor multiple times (in text) about being behind timeline, and getting additional help to catch up. Contractor continued to fall behind. Also, sent photographs to contractor of specific items that needed to be fixed including major drywall issues, horrific exterior painting job, HVAC work not being completed that I already paid for, electrical work not completed that I had paid for, and other smaller items. Finally, On Nov. 13, 2023 I told the company I was letting them go and expected to be reimbursed for the shoddy work that had been done. Over the next 5 weeks a new crew was hired, corrected all issues and completed the job. This crew of sub-contractors kept details on the invoices they sent about all re-work based on the quality of the original contractor. I sent two emails letting AID Remodeling know I wanted to be reimbursed, one on Nov. 16, 2023 and a final (with all receipts/invoices) on Jan. 4, 2024. I never received a response to either. I am seeking $10,799.46 refund. I have all receipts and can send but they won't fit in the upload option.Business response

Hello ****,
Thank you for the opportunity to reply. I'm sure much of this information will not be new to you as we have discussed it in e-mails previously. However I will be happy to go over it again. AID Remodeling contracts stipulate that work is not scheduled until a deposit has been made. The original project was slated for 8 weeks, but the contract is also clear that work could take longer depending on items outside of AID's control. The initial deposit was made on October 3rd 2023, you were provided the screenshot via E-mail of the deposit. I will not be posting it here as it does contain personal information and banking details for both yourself and AID Remodeling, however I am happy to re-send any e-mails you require.
As stated in the contract under Payment all payments are final. Any money rendered for labor is non-refundable. All materials were accounted for, along with corresponding screenshots of deposits. All materials were either utilized on the property, left at the property or were returned and refunded. Labor payments are non-refundable.
Under section "Sub-Contracting and Specialists" the contract is extremely clear that bringing in outside crews without the express approval of AID Remodeling is a breach of contract and subject to termination of the contract including any further labor. This is done in part because we are insured and having other contractors on site can result in negative consequences to all involved. Also, bringing in outside contractors gives a chance for another contract to coerce or otherwise convince unsuspecting customers that they should switch teams mid-project. This is to protect not only AID-Remodeling and contracted work we acquire, but also to protect our customers as best we can from fraud and bad-faith bids.
Phase work is a suggestion/general plan and something we attempt to adhere to. Due to weather concerns we were forced to complete certain sections of the project out of order. Drywall compound, paint, and various other items require certain conditions including temperature and humidity. This information was relayed, and you wished for us to attempt to complete those items. We used temperature gauging equipment to determine external and internal temperatures of surfaces before applying these items. This also does not account for the point where we had completed some interior painting with colors that you chose, and you wanted to re-paint with a different color. Something we would have been happy to accommodate if we had not been removed from the project before the contracted dates.
In regards to the amount of money that you are asking for, amongst several communications we have been provided by you several different figures. Originally you stated $3,367$, on a subsequent e-mail you stated $1,006.57. The original E-mail that AID remodeling sent includes all receipts and deposits, please refer to that for appropriate dollar amounts for materials and labor.
We are sorry that we were not provided with the agreed upon time to complete the work to our standards. Good luck with future projects.

I am rejecting this response because:
I am not asking for a refund of the monies given to AID Remodeling (except for materials because they did not provide receipts for the $1,006.57 mentioned below). Instead, I am asking for Reimbursement for all the work that had to be done because of the poor workmanship AID provided originally.- Reimbursement for $1,006.57 in materials money based on the material dollar amount I paid to AID Remodeling less the difference of the receipts that were provided for actual amount spent.
- Reimbursement for $1,965 in labor cost for all the drywall re-work that was completed based on AID Remodeling’s original work.
- Reimbursement for $6,112.89 to sand, clean, re-paint the entire outside of the house including aluminum siding, soffits and fascia, (not including brick) based on AID Remodeling's original paint job.
- Reimbursement for $975 for an electrician to find and fix errors from AID Remodeling that were causing electrical issues within the house so that it would pass inspection upon sale.
-Reimbursement for $740 for 7 of 19 hours spent on resetting all windows to be level, plumb and square. (Windows were $2500, $500 material and $2000 labor. 7 hours labor for rework = $740 of $2000 total labor)
Total: $10,799.46I sent this information as well as receipts for each item and can provide photos of workmanship quality but the BBB site will not allow me to upload.
I have photos of the drywall work and what needed to be reworked by new contractors because AID fell well behind their own timeline and could not catch up.
I have photos of the exterior painting which was done back in October when they had 4 weeks of good weather to repaint the house but never did.
I have photos of the electric work and having a licensed electrician come in and fix all errors because the re-wiring was done completely wrong.
I would like to be able to come to reach a resolution outside the court system, however I'm not averse to going that route if need be.
Kind regards,Customer response

This is an example of the exterior paint job that AID Remodeling did and even though I brought this to their attention face to face in meetings and also in text messages over a 4 week period, they would not correct the issue. This was in October of 2023. I continuously brought it up because I knew as cold weather came along, they needed to quickly take action, however they didn't. Upon firing the contractor, I ended up spending $6,000+ to have a company scrape, and repaint the entire house.Customer response

The business is firm on their response. They have already communicated with the consumer. The consumer broke the contract, and due to this, the business was unable to complete the work.

I am rejecting this response because:
AID Remodeling was removed from the job because they were given multiple opportunities to fix the work done that was not to standard as shown by all the photos attached in another message to the BBB. Their work was nowhere near the normal standard of acceptance and they were way behind the timeline they agreed upon.
