Several months ago on March 1, 2022 I took my 2012 GMC Acadia into the shop for an alternator replacement. After getting the old alternator replaced with a new one, I left the shop heading home and noticed the truck was burning oil. The car was giving off heavy oil smell and leaking from the rear main seal. Oil was visibly leaking on my driveway and underneath the vehicle. The next day March 2, 2022 i took the vehicle back and spoke with the Owner Sam and the mechanic who replaced my alternator. The owner and the mechanic both said that the alternator work had nothing to do with the leaking oil issue, which I agreed with as well, so that’s why I explained to them the truck shouldn’t have an oil leak since the truck was in for a different repair and that the truck never had an oil leak previously. The owner Sam stated they would inspect the vehicle for a diagnosis. After the inspection the mechanic stated the rear main seal of the vehicle was damaged that’s why the truck was leaking oil, however he also mentioned he didn’t know what happened, but they could repair the seal costing between $600-$700! ?? I had also already paid $540 for the alternator replacement and a tire repair on Feb 8,2022 for $108 ??????? So having to paying almost $1300 in total for an additional unnecessary issue that didn’t exist before I took the car in was not in the budget. In the final analysis Sam stated it was nothing they could do for me but if I want to bring the truck back for service they will fix at the price mentioned above. This has caused a great concern and much frustration since the vehicle had no prior problems and now has a check engine light on and consistently burns oil and leaks from the main seal. I greatly need this problem fixed. I’m seeking a full refund Please advise.

Bring back the car for another inspection and if we find that the job that was done here is not correct we will fix it.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Good afternoon. I’m reissuing the complaint against Tire Guys (Sam’s Auto service) initially when the truck was leaking oil, I returned the vehicle they (Mechanic)inspected the car and told me it was the engines rear main seal , and they would fix it for $700. I told them that would not work, simply because the car did not come in with this new problem but after they fixed the alternator the leak was now present.

      Regards,
      ******* *****
