I made a purchase for furniture on 2/1/23 for $5,567.61 and put down a deposit of $1,855.87. At the time of the purchase, Amy R****** (co-owner) said she would get back to us within 10 days to let us know the approximate deliver date. I called dozens of times and sometimes let a message but more often than not, the mailbox was full. About a month later she replied, and simply said she'll let us know when it arrives. From this point on, I called at least three time per week but did not leave messages because the mailbox was full. Around 5/29, I finally got ahold of Adam R****** (co-owner) and he said he thinks the furniture is ready. On June 1, 2023 I got a call from Adam stating that the furniture is ready to be picked up. He told me that I need to come in and pay and then they will ship it to me. I reminded him that the receipt/contract states that the balance, "Amount Due on Delivery" and that this was fair; I will not be responsible to pay until the goods are received in proper order. He told me, "I am not delivering until you pay. My wife made a mistake and you should have been charged $1,000 for delivery, not $250". Totally irrelevant to me and it seems that he was holding me responsible for a shipping cost mistake; again the contract was clear. In addition, he told me he would send photos of the furniture on Saturday, 6/3 but they did not arrive until Monday, 6/5. On 6/6, I noticed from the pictures that the furniture was clearly wrong based on height differences and hardware mistakes. On 6/7, I communicated via voicemail that it is now time for a refund. On 6/8, he stated, "you should have payed last week, now we are going to be gone until 7/13, I will think about paying you when I get back". At no time did he every tell me that he would be away for an additional five weeks. The order was incorrect and now they are withholding the money that is owed to me. The receipt is attached. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ** ********* and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.RE: Complaint ID *********, filed on 6/19/23 against Handcrafted Amish Furniture. LLC. When I told the business that I filed a complaint with the BBC, they miraculously where able to refund my money though prior to this, they said there were traveling and not able to do so until mid July. Though my issue has been resolved (for me, my credit card company is still dealing with them), I would like to keep this complaint on file for other potential customers to see. This has been an awful experience and they have proven themselves to be the most disrespectful and unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Others need to be made aware of this.
