Transaction Date: April 2022 Amount: $9,800 Company committed to providing us with a cost friendly deck that would hold up for 10+ years. Dispute: Contacted the business numerous times because of cracking, splitting, warping, peeling wood within 6 months, then a year, and again this year. The deck boards have been deteriorating at a rapid speed, even after we cleaned and sealed the deck 3 months after it was installed, per contractor’s instructions. Contractor was out yesterday and blamed us for not taking care of the deck properly and not sealing it. I have numerous emails and sources to site the wrong product was used and the construction of the deck is not superior. I also have numerous pictures I can send showing how quickly the boards have deteriorated. Contractor is unwilling to work with us or remedy in anyway unless we pay them more. We already feel as though we overpaid them. Had several other contractors come out and they quoted $13,000 to completely remove and build a new deck with the proper wood. The contractor we used, used existing framing to “save us money”. He stated that $4,000 was materials and $4,000 was to pay his guys $35/hour for 2 guys, 2.5 days’ work. The $1,800 in taxes. It doesn’t add up! We asked him multiple times to bring a printed copy of the original quote so we could make sure he used the wood that was quoted. He denies having any copies. However, if this is a legit business, for tax purposes, aren’t you supposed to keep copies of that for at least 5-7 years?! What recourse do we have? Please help us!

6.3.2024 BBB called business ###-###-#### spoke to Lajos L******. He stated that the structure of the deck is good. Wood checking (splits or cracks) does not affect the structure. The wood is not warranted.

I am rejecting this response because:

the structure is unsafe for our daughter and dogs. Wood deteriorated so bad, we had to have it removed for safety purpose. Structure wasn’t properly put together, nails were used instead of screws which kept popping up. Black spots of deck, looked like black mold or like the deck was burning. We will not be satisfied until we receive half our money back.

      Regards,
