I ended up starting classes at Penta in January of 2024 and my tuition was $1,500 for the Intro to HVAC program to help me learn a trade with the notion of landing a job after the program in the HVAC field. From January to March we did classroom learning which I ended up getting my Technician certificates and what I really was looking forward to was learning hands-on in the shop portion of the class that went from the end of March to class end on May 20th 2024. The only things we did was learn to Braze once, take apart a AC unit once and that was it. Rest of the time was spent sitting around doing much of nothing or watching YouTube videos on HVAC related topics even though we had most everything in the shop to learn hands-on. I approached my instructor about the lack of hands-on learning to get nowhere to eventually going above him to the person overseeing the Adult Education classes on site where I was told personally that they were aware of my instructors lack of teaching and told me there hands were tied as if they pushed my instructor too hard they had already threatened to leave and if my instructor left the HVAC program at Penta would shutdown as they have a shortage of instructors on hand. So they just put up with his antics in the meantime as there's not much they can do. I did apply for FASFA while I was there and got $500 back towards the end of my time there but that is separate from Penta and I really would like a full refund of my tuition money or even partial of the $1,500 I put in to begin with because I paid to get trained in HVAC and yes I have my certifications but those certifications don't mean anything if I don't know much of anything and I don't. I even feel deterred from pursuing HVAC as a trade from my negative experience at Penta but would really like my money back to go to a different trade school in a different trade and actually learn like I initially wanted because I feel very cheated out of my money, time and education at Penta.
