On 10/10/2021 I had RC Concrete Leveling came to my home and lifted a sidewalk that had fallen about two inches. The work was completed and I paid them $350.00. By next spring the sidewalk had fallen back to where it was prior to the repair. On June 30th I called and was told they would come to repair it. There is a one year guarantee . Since that time I have called numerous times the last being 1-17-2023. I have talked to the owner (**** ********* ) a number of tmes and each time he assured me the work was on his list and would be accomplished in the next few weeks, This has been going on for over a year.

I am rejecting this response because: I have heard excuses from this company since spring of 2022. I have spoken to *****  ( The owner ) at least 4 or 5 times since then telling me that I am on the top of the list and they will be there in a week or so to repair my sidewalk. I will believe it when I see it. If they can't come to do the repair then refund the money  and I will look for someon else.

The business sent a couple of guys out to fix things.  The sidewalk does not appear to have fallen again.  The consumer considers the matter resolved.

Complaint against RC Concrete Leveling and Power Washing

Requested a quote for concrete level services for my back slab and steps, sent pictures to the owner and got a quote and response back on 5/27/22 and stated I wanted to move forward with work (via text). Company attempted to come out on 5/30/22 but this same day I was having work done on my lawn and their machine could not be driven over my lawn. I told them I would call them once lawn was drivable (at least 6 mows). Got a text from the company on 6/6/22 asking if I was ready to have them out and I texted back - no we are on mow #1, I will text when we are ready. They responded, ok – “reach out when you are ready.” I didn't reach out. Received phone call at work on 8/29/22 that they came out to attempt to do the work but it was raining and that they would be back the next day. I didn't call them back or realize I had a call from them. On 8/31/22 I came home and there were holes drilled in my patio and steps and filled. A form was left at my house with the work they had done, which said they raised back patio and triple step with an explanation including “steps are not solid all the way through - basically is open and cannot get to lift”. On 9/6/22 I went to my basement and found new, large cracking throughout the wall (vertical, horizontal, diagonal, and step wise with 2 cinder blocks protruding into the basement) directly below where the work was done. We called the company, within the next day the foreman on the job told my husband he tried to lift the steps and kept putting their aggregate mix in, but it didn't lift. He stated that he thought it was due to a freeze and thaw that happened over the course of years and that is where the material was going. My husband told him of the damage done to our basement wall and asked for a recommendation of what to do next. He also sent him pictures of the wall. He said he would relay this to the owner. I called the next day, 9/7/22 again explaining the situation seeking a plan to repair the damage, I have a voicemail from the foreman discussing the steps and stating: “it took a lot of material to fill them up.” I called the foreman back and the forman told me the boss gave him the name of a basement repair company to reach out to. I said I had additional questions and requested that the boss reach out to myself or my husband. I reached out to the basement repair company that RC recommended by the end of that week and they were scheduled to come and assess the damage on 9/13/22. That week I also called RC Concrete and left a message asking to speak with the owner but received no call back. I received a call from the basement company that weekend, trying to set up another appointment, stating the concrete leveling company wanted him to assess the wall / damage. I said that was fine with me. On 9/13/22 the basement company came out and assessed the wall my basement and stated, “these are new cracks”, “this was negligence” and that he was going to call RC concrete owner back and that “he is not going to like this, but it is the truth” that the damage to the wall is the result of the recent work that was done trying to level the steps and concrete pad. He stated 2 options were repair via steel plates or rebuilding of the wall. The owner said he would reach out to RC Concrete and Leveling (*****) and let him know and that I should hear back from RC Concrete later that day or the next day. I received no call for an entire week, so I called RC Concrete and Leveling on Monday, 9/19/22. ***** called me back in a few hours and they would not accept any responsibility / were not responsible for the damage caused or seek to repair. He told me we could “take it up in litigation” along with the repair of my yard which their equipment also caused. I did express frustration to ***** that the company did not provide informed consent that this (extensive damage) was even a possibility, nor do they have my signature on their document stating that I agree to the work and the risks imposed (see additional attached document) and they also did not wait for my proceed forward for the work after our texts about my yard. I am very disappointed in not only the work that was done (which did not lift my patio or stairs), the damage that it caused my basement (which is >$9,000) to have restored, the damage to my yard, but the overall communication, service recovery, and integrity of this company. I have yet to pay the business for the $750 they changed me for this service. The business has not tried to resolve the problem or damage they caused.

We talked with you about the leveling at your property and we do not agree with your request.

      Customer response

      10/03/2022

I am rejecting this response because: the work done on our property was done so without communication/ approval after we requested that you wait until we contacted you and our back yard was completed / approached for you to bring your equipment on. The work you did, while it may have been accidental, was negligent and damaged property. We went with a company that you recommended to take a look at the work and said that this was due to the work you had done. I am also disappointed that the owners of this company didn’t come out to even inspect the work that was done. And their response had been that my back steps were not “to code” which I would respond, why did you proceed forward with the work on steps that were not to code? We had no cracks / issues before and after your company did this work, there are major cracks isolated to the area that you works near.  I am responding and attempting to reach a compromise with your company and if not I feel this is a valid way to let other consumers know about your business practices and what they can expect if something goes wrong on your job site. You could file a claim with your insurance agency, which you claim to have. Thank you for your consideration.
