I had been a customer since they started. I have nothing against the groomers they were all great. My biggest problem is nothing was ever consistent. One time the groomer makes the appointment the next you have to wait for the owner. And that is the biggest issue. I have spent weeks texting only to be told the calendar for 2024 is not open yet, or I have to wait cause the groomers double booked. Then they were down to one van so I had to drive way out of my way to get my dog groomed at their shop. It just got to be that the owner was making her problems my problem. There are too many other mobile groomers out there that I should have to beg for an appointment to have my dog groomed every 2-3 months.

Hi ******, thank you for your review. I apologize that you feel we didn’t prioritize you. The month of January was very difficult for us. To be clear, for over a month, we did not have any mobile units on the road at all due to our trailer being totaled in an accident and the duration of time it takes for insurance to get back to us- which is completely out of our control. Also, we did offer to transport Mia to and from the shop for you at no cost in our insured vehicles to make up for the inconvenience. I apologize that your appointments were not made in a timely fashion, but I would like to point out that we did always get Mia in within your requested time frame. We do our best to take care of all of our clients, but due to the catastrophic events that were out of our control at the beginning of the year, we did have to ask for a little more patience and understanding from our clients for a period of time. We are back to normal operations now. I’m glad that you’ve found a better fit for you and wish you all the best.

If I could turn back time and prevent my wife from going here, I would. This was truly the worst experience with a groomer we’ve ever had. First off, our dog is a Bernedoodle and has very beautiful and thick fur. He had some matting on his back (that is all), as we brush him every other day, and we assumed that if it the groomer wasn’t able to do what we requested, which was supposed to be a general cleanup (trim, nails, bath, etc.), then they would call us during the appointment and let us know of any drastic plans they had so we could make the final call as OWNERS. In no world did we think the groomer would take things into their own hands and completely shave down every inch of our dog, including inside his ears, his whole face, his tail, and every other part of him to the point that he has fur like a pit bull and doesn’t even look the same dog at all. Not only did they not call us before making that decision on our dog, which we never gave them permission to do so, but they also took all of an hour and a half to finish everything. If you know golden doodle’s and Bernedoodle’s, you know that a proper grooming would take 2+ hours. But unfortunately, we scheduled with this groomer for the first time on a Friday afternoon, so the product of this clearly resembles the lack of care and concern for our dog. Now, it’s Tuesday and the grooming took place on Friday, and our dog hasn’t been the same since. His whole demeanor has changed. He’s completely disengaged, constantly licking himself, acting skittish and worried about covering his anus and running quickly to different spots in the house to avoid our other dog, shivering due to not having a proper coat, and overall not okay. We are taking him to the vet today and hopefully finding a resolution to all this madness that **** **** *** ******** has caused us.

Thank you so much for your feedback. As we already discussed, you were refunded your money without question or hassle, as is our policy. Your wife was informed of the shave down at check in, **** very thoroughly explained the matting and the need to start the coat over. And also, as we discussed, the injuries were due to him pulling on his collar while he was under your control. He had no injuries upon leaving our shop. He was a very sweet and happy boy, and **** enjoyed working with him. I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience, and you were immediately refunded, and you continued to be hostile and accusatory. You may have very well been brushing him out every other day but as I let your wife know, the key is making sure you can get a stainless-steel comb from the skin to the end of the hair, which was not possible on his coat, causing very uncomfortable matting that needed to be removed for his comfort and safety. Brushing out that extent of matting is painful and potentially harmful for the dog, and inhumane. We, as a policy, never demat a dog with that extent of matting as we always put the dog’s comfort and safety first. As for how he’s behaving, unfortunately, dogs really do pick up on our emotions and how we react to their haircuts, so very often how they behave after the groom has more to do with how their people feel about the groom than how they do. Also, just as when a human shaves a part of their body and sensations change, so it is with a dog but a dog doesn’t understand the change and if their human is also acting differently towards them because they are unhappy with their haircut, it causes the dog to feel what humans interpret as “ashamed” because they are being submissive to appease their people and try to calm any tensions. Again, I apologize but I do have to respond to any complaint that is publicly posted so we’ve already been through this before, but I did submit photos to you showing the severity of the matting during the shave as well as two photos of the completed groom showing no injuries present on your dog as well as showing he was quite a happy boy feeling much better without all of that matted hair. We wish you and Obie all the best in the future. He was a very good boy.

We have been using Open Oaks for about 2 years now and absolutely love them! Their team is incredibly nice and does a fantastic job. We have two medium size dogs (Aus. Cattle Dog and a Black Lab Mix) that we have groomed every three months. Holly is our groomer and we always look forward to seeing her!
