ordered a book to be made, chose red/maroon for cover and the book arrives with a white cover. They admit that their tech missed it on the original order but they won't do anything about it because the "proof" was approved, when what was actually approved was the title on the cover, had no reason to suspect that the cover would be any color other than what was originally ordered. Terrible business practices!

Our proofreading instructions and approval process make it clear that books will print exactly as the proofs depict (apart from minor color differences that occur when viewing on the screen vs. in print). We encourage asking questions to make sure the order is exactly how clients want their books to print, and state explicitly, "We CANNOT reprint orders if mistakes in the finished books were also in the proofs. Rule #1: Never sign off on a proof if it’s not correct. Rule #2: Never assume." I have attached our proofreading instructions (which are uploaded with every proof), the disclaimer clients must read and check to acknowledge before approving proofs, and the most recent email correspondence.

Even though the errors were present in the proof, I would consider doing a reprint for **. ******** because I can see where he may have misunderstood that we do not have a burgundy cover stock (the 100pt cover stock on his order is just white), and that if he wanted a burgundy cover the color would have had to be added and shown in the print file. Our graphic designer did miss the note about adding the color to the background when they provided the proofs for approval. **. ******** has already provided the cover proof he approved, which shows a white background and the missing color (and is thus how the final books were printed). However, he has used abusive language and threatened to make it his "mission in life to rip you guys all over the internet," so my preferred resolution at this point is to provide a full refund and allow him to keep the books as they are. I have already processed the refund on his credit cards.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

The date of the transaction was August 14, 2023. The amount paid to the business was $779.46. The business agreed to provide 125 Perfect bound copies of my book. The nature of dispute was 50% of the order was damaged. The business attempted to resolve the problem partially by replacing most of the damaged books, but not all. I am requesting it be resolved in totality. The Order Number: ****** No Ads were provided or discussed

We have contacted the client directly and will be providing replacement of the additional damaged copies, which has been deemed an acceptable resolution on their end. We had already produced a replacement order for the exact amount that had been reported damaged by our client's staff, and were initially told the rest of the order was acceptable. It's costly for us to set up orders each time, so we prefer to do all replacements necessary as one complete order. Our client now understands this policy moving forward and plans to order again in the future.
