I had a air conditioning unit and digital thermostat installed on October 20,2021. at the cost of $2800.00. I paid with a check. The refrigerant wasn't filled and the unit checked until May 20 2022. I noticed I had to turn the thermostat down to 76. which should feel cold to me (my old unit was always set at 80). The unit would run for over an hour to somewhat cool my home. The temperature would start to increase immediately and as soon as it went up to 77 the unit would come on and run again. I called on June 8th spoke to the owner who told me he thought the new thermostat was too sensitive so he ordered a slide arm type thermostat. He installed it a week later. The unit ran less however the temperature would go up to 80 and I would have to turn it on. I called July 13th spoke with the owner again who was on vacation. I also asked if I could make an appointment for him to check my duct work and the 26 yr old furnace my unit is hooked up to. He was to call me the following week, He did not. I spoke with him on July 22 and he was to call that evening and come the following day to reinstall digital thermostat. He never called or showed up. I contacted another company for help and they told me the unit wasn't big enough. They installed dampers in my duck work to try to help. I pd $130.00 dollars. I found the original paperwork from May, 21, 1996 for my old unit and found that my 3 ton unit was replaced with a 2 1/2 ton unit. I've called the owner twice telling him I knew my unit wasn't large enough and that I could prove that he downsized it. I asked what he was going to do about it and also asked if he was going to let me pay the difference in the unit size to make this right. He has never returned either of my phone calls. The other heating & cooling company said they could replace this unit with the right one at an estimated cost of $5800.00 dollars. They recommended I contact the original company to make this right first because I shouldn't have to pay twice.
