I recently downloaded the Marathon gas station mobile app. The first time I got gas here, I had already installed the app, typed in my ohone number at the pump and dispensed the fuel. I received a 76 cents discount according to that receipt. Now today, Oct 19th I returned to the same station and made another purchase. It was my understanding from a brief message on the app that because I had not used the entire discount on the prior visit, that some of the discount gets carried over to the future visit. So today when I typed my phone number into the gas pump, no discount was applied. As a matter of fact, the pump price was then increased on my printed receipt. I am attaching a photo here to show that I was charged 10 cents more per gallon than the prices displayed on the pump. This is exactly what I am complaining about, the fast switching of prices with nothing posted on the pump to explain.Business response

Good afternoon, I have read the complaint from the customer, ********************** Mobile app is control by Marathon, our store have no control over that, but to get the 10 cents/ gallon discount customer must have earned over $2.00 because Marathon base their discount on 20 gallons per transaction, this customer still have $1.26 remaining on his app and once he earns 5cents/ gallon and goes over $2.00 then he will be able to use the discount, other complaint being charged different price was due to we have different price for cash and credit card transaction, some time difference is from 5 cents to 10 cents depending on the fuel market, please see the attached pictures, due to that customer thought he is being charged different price, but it was due to that they used credit card instead paying cash, if you have any concerns please feel free to call us back my cell # ************

I feel that this is a case of false advertising. The station owner may have attached pictures of an overhead sign referencing Regular Diesel, but I purchased neither. I was buying the premium gasoline which was said to be priced on the pump its self. After I dispensed the gas, I examinef my receipt to see whether the mobile app had applied any discount, and to my surprise I was billed a higher price per gallon than that which the pump advertised. Nowhere at eye level on the pumps is any notice or warning that this station charges more than what the pump price shows prior to any sale. Other agencies are being made aware of this situation.
