Strayer Concrete poured a new driveway at our residence between the dates of April 29- May 3. At time of completion, owner of the company requested extra $1,000 for additional loads of existing driveway/tearout. When we referenced our contract which clearly stated “tear out existing driveway” the owner threatened to increase the excess amount to $2500. Owner was aware at time of quote and when we signed the contract that it was a double layer of asphalt. Additionally, nowhere in the contract did it state that the agreed upon quote was subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. In conclusion, our original quote included a free sidewalk as advertised by the company in the form of a value pack coupon, we believe that because of this additional charge, we didn’t receive what was contracted.Business response

Strayer Concrete contracted for a new driveway which included the excavation of the old blacktop. Client received a beautiful new driveway which included a new sidewalk up to the porch as well as a border around the new driveway. The homeowner was home and watched our crew work everyday. The double layer of asphalt required extra time labor and dumping fees. At the time discussed Strayer Concrete understood that the $1000 extra would be acceptable ( a value of $2500). However since this discussion of the extra was not initialed on the contract Strayer Concrete is going to refund the $1000 extra to resolve this issue fairly and amicably. Our goal is always to walk away with happy customers and truly regret this did not happen over the extra charge.Customer response
