My name is ********************* and I have property that was severely damaged by a tornado on March 14th, 2024. My contractor has been working closely with my insurance company, Auto Owners, and I sent ****** Godsil a total 0f $47,000 that was to be used for materials and labor to remodel the 600 square foot home. The contractor did some work and then told me he would not complete it and would probably file for bankruptcy. He has only completed about 1/3 of the project and refuses to give me the materials he said he had ordered and paid for with the money from insurance company. I am being defrauded for about $27,000 of insurance money I mailed to him for draws on the job.He text me on 8/20/2024 to inform me he would not complete the work and would be working with a bankruptcy lawyer.

After noticing a corner area with water damage in a finished part of my basement, I contacted and hired Godsil Services who told me I needed to replace all the drain tile in both that room as well as all the outside facing walls. I signed a contract with a guarantee for a dry basement in November. The project began in January. When finished, I was immediately unhappy with the uneven flooring around my outside walls due the the new concrete. I was told it wouldn’t be smooth without a polisher and they didn’t do that. I also immediately saw 3 areas in the unfinished part where I could see water/wetness. Some of the workers were sent to look at it and they said they thought they would dry out after the rain would stop. It didn’t. I sent several pictures and had several conversations with the owner who made many promises to fix it, but never had. I had all new flooring and trim put in and had all but finished new painting when I noticed mold all around the new trim, and lots of mold going up the wall of the same area that was my original issue. The owner promised to make me his #1 priority the beginning of June. Never showed up. I now have mold in both finished parts of the basement. The second room never had moisture issues. Only the one corner of the other room. I contacted a new basement waterproofing company for a second opinion. They said the entire project was done wrong. They said the company should have dealt only with the area I had an issue with, not the entire basement. And what they did do was all wrong. I now have a quote of $20,000 to fix what this company did wrong. And then I have to hire someone to put up new drywall, put back the flooring, hoping the brand new flooring doesn’t have water or mold damage once it’s removed, and have to replace what was brand new trim, plus buy more paint and start that over. The owner stopped replying to me June 15.

Received list of contractors from ****** and after multiple quotes selected Godsil Services. On 4/13/22 contract signed for drain tile system, wall stabilization and sump pump installation for block foundation with $4764.58 deposit (1/4 of total cost). Work began on 5/2/22, additional 1/4 $$ given with remaining 50% upon completion. On 5/3 spoke to crew leader about City of Columbus foundation inspection. He said he was unaware of the requirement but would speak to the boss. On 5/4 asked Michael Godsil (brother of owner and the person who provide initial quote) about inspection. He said they never had an inspection for previous jobs but would discuss w Elijah Godsil, owner. On 5/5, I placed call to City of Columbus, got voicemail and left msg. On 5/5 Elijah Godsil on site as it was final day of job. Discussed inspection requirement with him and he said 1) he believed I had an exemption because he was "replacing" drainage tile. When asked how could he have known that ; he said all similar aged homes were built with drainage systems 2) he would be available whenever an inspection occurred. Received substantial rain throughout night and upon inspection at 7:30 a.m. following morning had multiple streams of water from 3 walls. Pictures and video sent to Elijah. Did not reach him until 5:30 p.m. and he scheduled to return following morning. He rescheduled several times and to datee has never returned. City of Columbus confirmed a permit and inspection was required and to date Godsil never completed application. Complaint finally escalated to FairClaims arbitration by ***********, and Godsil failed to respond. As of today *********** stated Godsil Services was removed from their network. City of Columbus stated their contractor complaint could result in a small fine against contractor but also a finding against my home until work completed per their permit guidelines. If work isn't done by Godsil, another contractor would probably start over in order to guarantee work.
