We had the exterior of our house painted less than 12 months ago and our contract states a 2 year warranty. Recently I've noticed paint peeling in some areas that appear to be poor workmanship or simply not enough coverage. I've nicely contacted the owner Mike Davenport via text on 4/29/2022, 5/2/2022, and 5/10/2022 as well as left a voicemail on 5/4/2022 asking for him to discuss the problem paint areas with me. He's yet to contact me back; additionally I've had to contact Next Day Exteriors 3 times in the past 2 weeks and ask for them to assist, each time they tell me they'll contact Mike. I've yet to receive a call back from them either.Business response

We contacted Mr. *********. We are going to look at the areas where he has some peeling paint. Mr. ********* was not able to reach me during a period when I was off work. I did get back to him when I returned.Customer response

Mike/Next Day Exteriors have not made any worthwhile attempt to fix the issue; instead he sent a ******* ******** rep out to review the areas of concern and take samples back to the lab for review which could take several weeks for results. After seeing the poorly done job on the house the rep didn’t believe it was a result of the product. Mike will make any effort to see the issue himself and practice customer service; he haphazardly said he would touch up specific spots and wouldn’t take more than a gallon, yet he’s never seen the areas on the house to make that call. The ******* ******** rep felt so bad for the poor workmanship she offered to provide several gallons of paint for free after hearing about the ordeal. Mike simply does not want to take accountability for the issue and is making everything extremely much harder than it needs to be

I hired Next Day Exteriors to paint the outside of my home in around August of this year. The job was to cost $4500 which I paid them in full. I had several issues with the painting and missing areas. They came out twice to do a touch-up and still missed roughly 25 areas. As of now they still have MANY areas missed on the siding. The big issue right now is the siding shrinks in the cold weather leaving 1/2" yellow stipes ALL OVER my home. The old color was yellow and the new color is greenish. It's the most ridiculous thing you have ever seen. Originally I just wanted the trim painted. The owner Mike talked me into painting everything outside. If he would have told me you're going to have yellow stripes on your house 6 months a year, I would have never painted the siding. He's the professional and should have known this was going to happen and also have told me. I did not know this at all. I have never had a house with vinyl siding before. I am also not a painter and have never painted a house before. I contacted Mike again. He replied saying he can't do it in the cold and he doesn't know how to charge me. I told him in 2 days it's going to be 67 degrees out. He said he couldn't make it. I replied to him I'm not paying more to fix their mistakes. I also told him I will have to take them to small claims to get my money back. He didn't reply to this.Business response

***** ******** Complaint:
1. Mr ******** called me and asked for an estimate to paint his house. He said that he did not like his existing siding color and wanted to paint it. He said that he had received multiple estimates to paint his house and gave me a range of prices from the other estimates. He made it clear that changing the siding color was his main motivation for painting the house. On June 2, I gave him a price to paint only the trim and a separate price to paint the trim and siding. He opted to paint the trim and siding. I sent a formal proposal on June 9, 2021.
2.On June 1, 2021, when Mr ******** scheduled me to come and give him an estimate there were workman at his house tearing off his shingles. It was chaotic; with piles of shingles behind the house, two debris trailers in the driveway, ladders around the house, a compressor running, multiple workman. During this time, I walked around the house with Mr. ******** and discussed the pros & cons of painting vinyl siding. The discussion included expansion and contraction of vinyl siding. I can only assume that he had similar discussions during the other painting estimates that he told me about.
3.We completed painting Mr. ********** house on July 21. On July 22, I asked if he was satisfied and he said, “Yes, it looks great. Just a couple of things…” On July 24, we came to Mr. ********** house, under his supervision, and touched up everything he mentioned, and he said, “Mark and another painter came out this AM and fixed all the issues. They are great. My house looks so good. I will refer other neighbors to you. I hate to brag, but my house is the nicest in the neighborhood.”
4.On September 12, Mr. ******** sent me a picture of a typed list of 9 bullet points. He said, “…this is all that’s left on my home.” On October 9, under the supervision of Mr. ******** we completed everything on his list.
5.On November 15, Mr. ******** sent. me a picture of a siding joint and said, “…since it’s cold now my siding has retracted on both ends of my house now leaving a strip of yellow [original color] showing.” I responded the same day and let him know the following: 1. It’s too cold to paint now. 2. Sorry that his siding moved when it contracted during the cold and that it might go back to its original position when it warms up. 3. We can’t be responsible to paint surfaces that are not visible during the painting process. 4. It’s normal to have expansion and contraction with temperature changes. 5. That it would be an additional charge if we come out to paint surfaces that were not exposed when we originally painted the house. 6. I did not know the what the cost would be without looking at the project.
6.Mr. ******** replied, “I’ll go ahead and hire another painter to fix your imperfections and take you to small claims to reimburse me.” This was the last and final communication from Mr. ********.Customer response
